The NUP is fully aware that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) continues to use state institutions to entrench itself in power and therefore resolved to engage, challenge and counter the NRM regime from within these legal and political platforms.

The recent legal amendments makes participation in the Inter-Party Organisation for Dialogue (IPOD) mandatory for all registered political parties in Uganda, the party is re-evaluating its position and will accordingly take part in IPOD activities as required by law.

The decision to engage within IPOD does not signify a shift in the party's principles or core values. The NUP remains steadfast in its mission to champion the struggle for freedom, democracy and good governance in Uganda.
