IQ obviously has a nurture component. It’s not all nurture. Talent matters. But nurture probably also affects future talent. By doing these exercises early my son is signaling to his 4 year old brain to develop capabilities in this area.

Congratulations to David Puig on his second Asian Tour win in the last four months, earning him a spot in the The Open this summer. David has been working hard with Dave Phillips to develop mechanics that are not only more repeatable and consistent, but a better match for his movement capabilities (will share details in a future video). Just 22 years old, David has a bright, bright future ahead of him in pro golf.

What would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail? 🛝 This video of sisters Emmy and Lyla, is more than a lovely moment on the playground. It’s also a perfect analogy for the type of environment we want to create for young children: supportive, loving, and conducive to (healthy) risk taking. Risk taking might not be the first thing you think of encouraging in your toddler. But almost all significant learning requires it. Whether it’s taking one’s first steps, trying a new food, finding the courage to approach a potential friend, or trying out the playground slide, young children are challenged by healthy risk daily. (Obviously, this is to be differentiated from unhealthy risk, which might put your child in danger.) How do we nurture healthy risk taking? Wumi Toriola needs a lot of training! I saw someone in the comments say, “I didn’t mention her because I’m afraid she’ll come for me.” But me? I don’t care. I’ve even praised her before — her production on Queen Lateefat was solid. I’ll still say it: Wumi is a filmmaker and, in my opinion, she’s a better actor than Toyin Abraham, Funke Akindele, and Mercy Aigbe combined. And I stand by that. However, she needs serious training in direction and in her acting delivery. It’s not every movie you have to shout or make noise. She should go back and watch herself in Queen Lateefat and use that performance as the yardstick for how she should act going forward. Wumi has massive talent. Her potential is huge. But talent alone isn’t enough — she needs to nurture it. She needs to be more intentional and ensure that her movies are well done.
