Killing Iranian leadership, especially those with high intellect, influence, charisma, and reach, will not change anything on the ground in America’s efforts to weaken the state or prepare for regime change to install a puppet leader or king. How preposterous it is that the American war machine, which only a few years ago withdrew from Afghanistan after twenty years of war, with pomp and show, ended in what some describe as a sudden, shameful exit, and did not bring the so called “democracy” or change Afghan society in the way it intended. No one saw Afghan women ‘liberated’ and wearing bikinis and sunbathing either. It could not even alter deeply rooted cultural norms and instead emboldened the Taliban, who returned to power after 20 years, with billions of dollars of modern war equipment left behind, as perceived by some, as a result of a rushed American withdrawal, effectively benefiting the same group they once called terrorists. This unfolding situation reflects a form of madness led by a power that uses its military might to target countries that are comparatively weaker. As Trump would never dare attack North Korea or Russia, no matter what human rights violations are alleged, even as conflicts like Ukraine continue. America’s show of force is often directed at weaker nations. Muscle flexing, nostrils enlarging, mouth frothing, and fingers pushing missile buttons. But in front of Russia or North Korea, diplomacy, talks, and smiles. It reflects the behaviour of a third class school bully and nothing more. But now, killing senior political figures who may have had the capacity to bring stability or dialogue only deepens the crisis. History shows that such approaches do not work, just as wars in Vietnam, Iraq, Libya, and Afghanistan failed to produce lasting stability. Why is this important for the world now? Because the Iran conflict is not just a war on a state. It touches on ideology and identity that are deeply rooted among millions of people.
