Terrifying reality check. If Trump bombs Iranian power plants Iran will instantly destroy desalination plants in the Gulf. Qatar and Bahrain get 99 percent of their drinking water from them. Iran can literally dehydrate US allies in a single day. The Gulf is defenseless

🚨 WATER WARS: WHY DESALINATION PLANTS ARE THE GULF’S LIFELINE When missiles fly in the Middle East, people usually think of oil fields, pipelines, or military bases, but in the Gulf, there is another target that may be even more critical, water. The Iranian drone strike on a Bahraini desalination plant, and Iran’s claim that the U.S. targeted a similar facility on Qeshm Island, signals a dangerous new phase in the war. Because in the Gulf, desalination plants are essential for survival. Unlike most regions of the world, the Gulf has almost no natural freshwater. Rainfall is scarce, rivers are nonexistent, and groundwater reserves are limited and rapidly depleting. So Gulf states turned to the sea. Today, massive desalination plants pull salt from seawater and convert it into drinkable water for cities, industries, and agriculture. Without them, daily life across the region would collapse almost overnight. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries control roughly 60% of the world’s desalination capacity and produce about 40% of all desalinated water globally. More than 400 desalination plants operate across the region, quietly supplying the water that keeps cities running. In Kuwait, about 90% of drinking water comes from desalination. In Oman, it’s 86%. Even the United Arab Emirates, with one of the most advanced infrastructure systems on the planet, gets about 42% of its drinking water from the sea. That’s what makes attacks on these facilities so alarming. Unlike oil infrastructure, which affects markets and government revenue, desalination plants affect people immediately. Take out a refinery and the economy suffers. Take out a desalination plant and millions could lose access to drinking water. Energy infrastructure has always been part of regional conflict, but targeting water infrastructure raises the stakes dramatically.

The US destroyed a water reservoir serving 20,000 people in a strike Iran described as a “calculated war crime.” Professor Marandi says Iran has so far refrained from retaliating against desalination plants in Gulf countries. But he warns that if the US escalates further, those facilities could become fair game. That would be a potentially catastrophic scenario for Gulf states that rely heavily on artificial freshwater supplies amid extreme summer heat. Watch the full interview on Sanchez Effect.

One of the desalination plants in Kuwait has officially withdrawn from the Memorandum of Understanding. Desalination technologies are vital in US Gulf partner countries. They are indispensable. In Kuwait, for example, desalination provides up to 90% of all drinking water. Neighboring countries are in the same situation. Iran is not Venezuela.

A chilling warning to Gulf states. Prof. Marandi points out that Iran could wipe out the infrastructure of these US-backed family dictatorships in hours. They only have oil and desalination plants. They should be thankful Iran is showing restraint.

Iran has carried out an onslaught of missile attacks on Gulf nations, striking a desalination plant and oil refinery in Kuwait. It came a day after the U.S. destroyed a critical Iran bridge. Britt Clennett reports from Israel.

🚨 I WARNED YOU. 4 DAYS AGO I TOLD YOU EXACTLY WHAT WOULD HAPPEN. I said the US bombing a water plant on Qeshm Island would open a door that CANNOT be closed. I said Iran would consider ALL civilian infrastructure fair game. I said every desalination plant in the Gulf just became a target. Now look at what just happened: – Iran's FM just confirmed ANOTHER US strike damaged a desalination plant on Qeshm Island – Water is now cut off to 30 MORE villages – This is no longer an isolated incident. It's a PATTERN. – The US is systematically targeting water infrastructure – Saudi Arabia gets 70% of its drinking water from desalination – UAE gets 90% – Qatar gets almost 100% Iran hasn't hit a Gulf desalination plant yet. YET. But every strike on Iranian water infrastructure gives them the justification to do exactly that. One strike on a Saudi or UAE desalination facility and MILLIONS of people have no drinking water within 72 hours. The US isn't just fighting Iran. They're creating the conditions for the worst humanitarian crisis the Gulf has EVER seen. I told you this 4 days ago. Nobody listened. They're listening now.

🇬🇧 When the Gulf is in crisis, everyone watches oil prices. But the real nightmare scenario isn’t oil, it’s water. The GCC countries (especially Saudi, UAE, Qatar, Bahrain) get almost all their drinking water from coastal desalination plants. One major plant in Saudi Arabia supplies over 90% of Riyadh’s water. Unlike oil, you can’t easily stockpile water or ship it in from somewhere else. If those desalination plants get seriously hit, entire cities could face acute water shortages in a matter of days. Two plants have already been struck. Even if the damage was limited, the precedent is terrifying. Oil shocks hurt economies, but water shocks can break societies. This is the vulnerability almost nobody wants to talk about. Source: CaspianReport YT

JUST NOW: In a massive development no one saw coming, President Trump has publicly declared that the U.S. will seize "Kharg Island" from Iran. KHARG ISLAND is the Persian Gulf outpost that controls nearly 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports (about 1.5 million barrels per day).

We need to plan for the ‘day after’ from now & work on Gulf-Iran ties irrespective of what happens between Iran, the US, & Israel. Many spoilers benefit from regional fragmentation and chaos. That’s why Iran going all out on the Gulf serves no one’s interests, including Iran.

🇸🇦 🇦🇪 One strike on the Gulf's desalination plants and millions lose their only source of water. Harvard Professor Stephen Walt names the worst-case scenario nobody is discussing. Forget the missile exchanges, the plants that keep Gulf cities alive are the true nightmare target. Behind closed doors, Walt says the Gulf states are pushing Washington hard to end this war fast. Their entire economic model runs on stability, and a prolonged conflict threatens everything they've built. His warning is blunt: the moment critical water infrastructure gets hit, a mass exodus out of the Gulf becomes a real possibility. Stephen Walt
