Iran FM Spokesperson: Iran, Oman Reached Route DEAL, Joint Statement Pending Dr. Esmaeil Baghaei: "The root of insecurity in the Strait of Hormuz has been America's illegal actions and interventions." Dr. Baghaei reconfirmed Iran and Oman have REACHED agreement on the shipping route map through the strait, but carried out with Iran's full DEFENSE apparatus handling technical and security details. Baghaei said the deal is between Iran and Oman only, not the U.S. Restoring full security in Hormuz is separate, and Iran blames U.S. for that.

JUST IN: Iran's FM Spox. Esmail Baghaei: “Even without relying on Article 5 of the memorandum of understanding, Iran, as the coastal state bordering the Strait of Hormuz, possesses legal and sovereign rights over the strait. The experience of military attacks by the United States and the Israeli regime, along with the cooperation of some countries in the region, has demonstrated that Iran must not allow this vital waterway to be exploited against the country's security and national interests. Iran is determined, in cooperation with Oman, to adopt the necessary measures and arrangements to fully exercise its sovereignty and prevent any security threats in the Strait of Hormuz.”

🇮🇷🇴🇲🇺🇸⚡️ Iran and Oman have reached an agreement on a plan for the safe transit of vessels through the Strait of Hormuz, marking a potentially important step toward restoring commercial navigation through one of the world’s most critical energy corridors. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmail Baghaei said the agreement followed positive progress in negotiations “despite U.S. obstruction” and resulted from coordinated work involving Iran’s foreign, defense, security and environmental authorities. Talks between Tehran and Muscat on other issues remain ongoing, but Baghaei stressed that the agreement establishing a safe maritime route through Hormuz is a separate arrangement. The breakthrough could ease immediate pressure on shipping, but it does not resolve the broader U.S.-Iran confrontation. Tehran insists full security in Hormuz cannot be restored while U.S. naval sanctions, military deployments and the blockade remain in place. The emerging arrangement therefore looks less like a final settlement and more like an attempt to reopen maritime traffic while Iran preserves the Strait itself as leverage in its wider confrontation with Washington. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has called on the "international community" not to be complacent: The creation of a new maritime route between Iran and Oman does not mean that the Strait of Hormuz will be reopened. The current situation is a result of the United States' violation of the memorandum of understanding, and the United States must fully rectify these violations. We will not allow the violations of the memorandum of understanding to go unpunished, and we will not allow Iran's sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz to be questioned.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 BREAKING: Iran denies Trump's claims that a US deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz could happen TODAY. Iran's FM Esmaeil Baqaei says the current negotiations are only between Iran and Oman, no US, and are not about immediately reopening the waterway. Iran says Hormuz will remain closed until the US ends its military threats and changes its behavior. Earlier, Axios reported that the US, Iran and Oman were nearing a temporary 60-day agreement that would reopen the Strait on Wednesday. This directly contradicts Trump’s claim that a deal “could happen tomorrow or the next day.”

Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman portrayed an upcoming meeting with Persian Gulf Arab states in Oman as evidence that Tehran’s military power had strengthened, rather than undermined, its regional diplomacy despite Iranian strikes on US bases in those countries. Baghaei said Iran’s diplomacy, backed by its strength on the battlefield, had persuaded regional states that shared security required them to sit together and negotiate without foreign powers. He also said the goal of the regional meeting in Oman on Monday is to reach shared regional security.

Defining this path between Iran and Oman doesn't necessarily mean the Strait of Hormuz will REOPEN. That depends on other conditions as well. The memorandum of understanding points that were agreed upon by America need to be addressed one by one.”

A US P-8A maritime reconnaissance aircraft flies over the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman, in conjunction with a KC-46A tanker north of the Gulf of Oman to support air operations. Earlier, sudden appearance of a US Navy P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft off Pakistan’s coastline has expanded the strategic geography of the ongoing US-Iran confrontation from the Strait of Hormuz into the Northern Arabian Sea, introducing a potentially significant escalation in maritime monitoring patterns.
