Iran's security forces shot protester Farid Ramezani during nationwide protests in Tehran, then targeted his Pahlavi crown tattoo as he lay wounded before killing him with a shot to the forehead on Jan. 8, a source told Iran International. Ramezani, 29, was shot in the back in Tehran’s Ariashahr... neighborhood before security forces shot him in the right hand, where he had a Pahlavi crown tattoo, and then fired the fatal shot into his forehead, according to the source. His family was later asked to pay for the three bullets fired at him before authorities would release his body, the source said. Authorities withheld Ramezani’s body for about two weeks and barred his family from burying him in Tehran. His body was transferred to Hashjin in Khalkhal county, in the northwestern province of Ardabil, where he was buried. Informed sources told Iran International that the procedure was intended to destroy evidence that could have identified the weapon used and those responsible for the shooting. Momeni Sani was shot in the abdomen and side with live ammunition during protests on Tehran’s Salsabil Street on the evening of January 8. The bullets pierced his lungs, killing him.
