CNN NEWS 18 FIRST & EXCLUSIVE "INSIDE STORY OF HOW AASTHA WAS LOOTED". THE RAW FACTS: 1. MODUS OPERANDI •According to the reported account, officials associated with the Ram Temple Trust noticed irregularities after reviewing the amount of money being deposited in the bank during the last week of May. They examined the daily process of emptying the donation boxes and began to suspect theft. •Typically, each donation box contained around ₹6–7 lakh when opened. However, over several weeks, officials observed that bundles of ₹500 notes appeared to be short of the expected amount. •As suspicion grew, hidden cameras were secretly installed in the room where the cash was counted. •After reviewing a week's worth of hidden camera footage, officials allegedly found that employees involved in counting the money would deliberately stand in front of the visible CCTV cameras, blocking the view. Meanwhile, another employee would remove currency notes from prepared bundles and conceal them inside his clothing. This activity was captured by the hidden cameras. 2) Another Alleged Method of Theft* •According to the information received, the employees also used another technique. •While preparing cash bundles, they would intentionally include extra notes in each bundle. Later, when the bank verified the cash, it reportedly counted only the number of bundles instead of recounting every individual note, and prepared the deposit voucher accordingly. •During the transportation of the cash from the temple to the bank, the extra notes that had been inserted into each bundle were allegedly removed. As a result, the amount still matched the voucher while the removed cash was stolen. •It is alleged that Anukalp Mishra, who was involved in preparing donation vouchers, carried out this manipulation with the help of his brother-in-law, Lav Kush Mishra. •After the case came to light, police reportedly recovered approximately ₹10 lakh from Lav Kush Mishra's residence. 3. Hiring Through Personal Connections* •According to the report, all employees involved in counting the donations had been recruited through personal contacts or recommendations. •For example, Tinnu Yadav, the driver of Champat Rai, was reportedly serving as a supervisor and had arranged for his cousin Manish Yadav to work in the cash-counting process. Similarly, Anukalp Mishra, who had been working there for years, allegedly got his brother-in-law Lav Kush Mishra appointed to the same work. 4. Lack of Security Checks* •The report states that employees were not searched when leaving their duty, which allegedly allowed them to gradually steal money directly from the room where donation boxes were opened, cash was sorted, and bundles were prepared. 5. Money Deposited Into Personal Bank Account* •After reviewing CCTV footage of the accused Avinash Pandey, investigators reportedly compared the dates on which money was allegedly stolen with the dates of bank deposits made by the temple. •Officials of the Ram Temple Trust stated during questioning that the comparison indicated that Avinash had allegedly deposited part of the stolen donation money into his own bank account. 6. Alleged Theft of Donated Jewellery* The report further alleges that jewellery donated by devotees was also stolen. Items allegedly taken included: •Earrings •Jhumkas (traditional earrings) •Nose rings •Bangles offered to the child form of Lord Ram (Ram Lalla) •Anklets According to the report, the theft allegedly took place before the cash counting and before the jewellery recovered from the donation boxes was officially recorded. 7. Access to the Donation Counting Room* •The report also alleges that Ram Shankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu Yadav, and Subhash Chandra regularly entered and exited the room where the donation boxes were opened and counted.
