Today marks three years since my brother Vladek was last verifiably seen, November 6th 2021 he left Foxtail Coffee shop and walked into the unknown. We continue to try and retrace his steps every day since then. It’s been three years filled with uncertainty, relentless searching, and an unshakable hope that we will find answers. There isn’t a day that goes by where he isn’t in my thoughts, constantly hoping with everything in me that he is okay wherever he might be. Vlad’s absence leaves a space that nothing can fill. I will never stop fighting for him and I will cling to the hope of being able to hug him again one day and remind him how loved he truly is. To everyone who has supported my family through this living nightmare, who has continued to help share his story, and who stands with our family — thank you. Twenty-four years ago, my father stood on a piece of land he had bought with the sweat of his brow — a modest plot, but to us, it held a big dream. We planted fig trees, grapes, peaches, olives, and even corn. It wasn’t just land... it was a piece of our heart.** We would eagerly wait for Fridays. We’d pack our things, fill the teapot, and head to the land. There, beneath the shade of the olive tree, we would laugh, eat, and dream. But in 2008, the Israeli bulldozers came. They tore down the fence, leveled the two rooms, and uprooted the trees we had grown up with. Despite the pain, we returned and rebuilt — a full floor took the place of what had been destroyed. Then came 2012, and once again, our home was damaged. We repaired it and moved back in. But safety didn’t last. In 2014, it was bombed again. We repaired it once more — as if we were trying to plant a rose in the middle of rubble. By 2019, we had built three floors with five apartments, divided among my siblings and me. But our joy was short-lived. The warplanes came and destroyed everything. We returned, rebuilt, and lived — as only those with no other choice do. In early 2024, my grandfather’s old house was hit. We said, “Thank God, we still have my father’s house to live in.” Then my own apartment was bombed. I said, “Thank God, I can still stay in a part of my father’s home.” And today... we returned to find our house — the one that had sheltered us time and again — reduced to rubble. The Israeli soldier wasn’t content with destroying it. He wrote his name on the walls and took pride in what he did. I don’t know him. I don’t know why he did it, or who told him to. But I know one thing: my father is now searching through the ruins, wondering how to pitch a tent — just a tent — so we can have somewhere to live. A tent, so we can stay here, rebuild it, and live in it once again — until we die

It's also the time of year when people donate to charity and we wonder if any of our friends will remember the work that Ernestos does for the animals in war torn Syria? We have just had one of our worst months for fundraising, with the lowest donations we have seen for a long time. A little gift from our supporters means everything to our animals and to the lives of the 100s of animals we treat and help every day of the year. We want to continue to be there for them. To help as we have helped for the past 9 years. But first, we must make it through the winter months. Will you help us? We need fuel, we need food,we need medicines. But most of all, we need your kindness and your belief in what we do.

Today at Uhuru Park, I met this man sitting all by himself, deep in thought. I approached him and we talked. He shared that life has really been tough he has been searching for a job for a long time without success. Two months ago, his house was locked, and since then, he has been sleeping on the streets. I wanted to help him pay the two months’ rent, but all he asked for was transport money to go back home to the village, where he at least has a place to stay and regroup. I listened and supported him with the fare so he can go home, plan afresh, and hopefully return to Nairobi or anywhere once an opportunity opens up. He is a chef and ready to work. If anyone can offer him a job or support, please reach out to me since his phone was stolen: 0720836634( his number is recorded in the video if you have an opportunity for him.) Sometimes a small act of kindness can help someone restart life. Let’s continue looking out for each other.

today would have been Oliver Tree birthday . he brought me so much joy just to know a creator that loved and breathed his art 1000% every time I see him I felt like I wasn’t doing enough .. but it wasn’t just the work as a musician it was life . he lived it every moment to the fullest - he gave everything in his bones to making the world a better place with his music . a lot of people might have just been turned on to him that wasn’t familiar . and he would be so happy to see the impact he had .. at a great time with everyone looksmaxing, faking their way to the algorithm and making music for the money - he tried to steer humanity into a greater place where being the best version yourself is the greatest gift you can give... this is one of the demos we had - in retrospect it makes me cry to listen back to.. what a big heart this man had

Almost five years ago, one of our bright beneficiaries, David, lost his mother after she travelled to the Upper East Region to seek medical treatment. He became an orphan. In the midst of that tragedy, he left Accra and disappeared from our scholarship programme. We did everything we could to bring him back. We had even identified a loving family that was ready to take him in so he could continue his education through our Student Training and Education Programme (STEP), but his family was not ready to let him return. We never gave up. In 2024, we heard that David had returned to Accra, so we travelled to Kasoa to look for him. We were relieved to find him, but his family was not forthcoming, making it difficult for us to stay in touch. Sadly, by the time we returned, he had been taken back to the Upper East Region. Then, just recently, we received the phone call we had been praying for. One of David’s cousins had brought him back after learning that he was being mistreated. At just 13 years old, David had been out of school for years and was being made to work on farms instead. Today, David is finally back. He may be behind in school, but he is not behind in potential. We are determined to help him catch up, heal, and build the future he deserves. As we prepare to support David’s return to school, he will need school fees, uniforms, books, stationery, personal items, counselling, and the care every child deserves to thrive. If David’s story has touched your heart and you would like to help him, we’d be very grateful for your support. Every contribution will go towards helping him rebuild his life and continue his education. Because every child deserves a chance. Join us on our most recent trip to Minnesota! Typically we fly but due to the weather our flight was cancelled so we had to drive. Had some hiccups along the way with the rental car but we made it on time and Clark received his 18th dose of the treatment! We continue to be filled with hope that this treatment is halting the disease and changing the future for kids with this disease.

PEACE AND QUIET AFTER TEN YEARS OF WAR: Today we work in Aleksandrovka, a village located between Donetsk and Maryinka, which since 2014 has been in the "gray zone", under heavy shelling and in the sights of Ukrainian snipers. Until December 23, until Maryinka was taken, the front line literally ran along the last street, but now it has rolled back fifteen kilometers towards Kurakhovo, and long-awaited peace and quiet have finally come to Aleksandrovka, the endless flights have stopped and the deadly killer drones have finally disappeared from the sky. I have come here many times as a volunteer since 2015, , I have worked here as a war correspondent since the very beginning of the SVO, , and now I have come to talk to local residents, to find out how and what the village lives with now, what post-war problems the residents are facing and whether they are being solved. I described my impressions for you in "notes in the margins", I hope you will find it interesting. We’re still working through the logistics and determining the best way to tell this story, but it is happening. I’m also incredibly excited for Bruce. Last night in Kawangware, I met this man whom I initially thought was a security guard. After speaking with him, I later came to learn that he is a Nigerian national currently living on the streets. Whenever I meet someone living on the streets, I always take time to engage with them, understand their story, and learn how they ended up there. My goal is always to see how best I can help them rebuild their lives. During our conversation, he shared that he came to Kenya after receiving a promise of sponsorship from his cousin to continue his education here. However, after only two weeks in the country, his cousin who had promised to support him left for the United States without enrolling him in school, leaving him stranded in Kenya. As we continued talking, he explained how he struggled to survive and eventually ended up living on the streets. He has now been on the streets for about two years. In one of the videos I recorded, a lady reached out to me and said she recognized him. According to her, they once lived in the same apartment building. She narrated how the man had been in a relationship with a lady who allegedly took everything he owned. This incident deeply affected him, pushing him into depression and eventually to the streets. The man also shared that at one point he worked in Dubai, where he used to send money back home to support his parents in Nigeria. However, when he later returned home, he claims he discovered that he had been deceived by the very people he trusted. He gave me his parents’ contact, although we were not able to fully hear their side of the story. Currently, his travel documents have expired, and he expressed that his biggest wish is to renew them so that he can return home to Nigeria and start life again. I offered to use my platform to help fundraise for the renewal of his documents, as he personally requested. He also asked if I could help him secure any form of work so that he could at least sustain himself as he waits to regularize his documents. However, after spending time with him and assessing his situation, it became clear to me that he urgently needs mental health support, as he appears to be struggling with depression. I therefore decided that the following morning I would take him to a private rehabilitation center where professionals could assess him and offer the help he needs. After we agreed on this plan, I took him to a hotel where he could spend the night safely. I paid for his room and food, intending to pick him up the following morning and take him for rehabilitation. Unfortunately, later in the morning I received a call from the hotel attendant informing me that although the man had slept well, he left the guest house very early in a hurry. Later reports indicated that he had been seen back on the streets. Since then, efforts to locate and rescue him have not been successful. I am informed that he rarely accepts help from people, which makes the situation even more challenging.
