Soldering is best learned up close, watching an expert's hands. Now everyone has a chance to try it. Together with Imperial EEE at Imperial College London, we captured a full soldering masterclass and processed it into 4D Gaussian Splatting-based content for students. Anyone can watch it in a VR headset or on 2D devices. The class covers the basic techniques required to hand-solder surface-mount and through-hole components on printed circuit boards (PCBs). It was a real co-design effort: we planned the capture together with the Imperial team, positioning cameras so that every fine detail stays visible from any angle, down to the tip of the soldering iron. Thank you to May Tang (Teaching Laboratory Technician), Tanmay Lad (PhD Candidate in Bioelectronics), and Dr Adrià Junyent-Ferré (Associate Professor in Power Electronics) for this collaboration. It would be absolutely fantastic if it could actually walk around the venue lol -- During today’s interview session, founder Mr. He Xiaopeng told me that this anthropomorphic humanoid robot will initially be deployed in XPENG’s flagship stores to serve as a sales consultant and guide... (To be honest, this particular application scenario demonstrates strong backward compatibility.) Furthermore, some updates are scheduled for Q3 of this year. (I haven't finished transcribing his interview yet, but I will share more details later.) Essentially, auto companies worldwide are venturing into the field of humanoid robots to varying degrees,whether through application, R&D, or investment. However, few are like XPENG:a "Physical AI" company that covers the entire vertical stack,from software to hardware, from foundational infrastructure (AI chips, foundation models, etc.) to manufacturing, and finally to the closed-loop application of real-world scenarios. So, the branches are diverging,the ultimate forms that these various humanoid robot ecosystems take will be distinct from one another. The future is wild.

Nigeria has agreed to a gas deal that moves it closer to reviving the Ajaokuta Steel Complex that hasn't produced any metal since being built half a century ago. The agreement with the Nigeria National Petroleum Co will provide Ajaokuta Steel Co. with as much as 50 million standard cubic feet of gas per day as feedstock for a power plant servicing the metals complex. The availability of gas has long been a key question raised by investors from many countries over the years. The steel plant and all its components are all powered by gas. The Ajaokuta plant was built by Soviet engineers in the late 70s. More than $8 billion has been sunk into the complex over the past five decades, and its yet to produce any steel. This industrial complex had the potential to transform Nigeria's industrial landscape, especially considering Nigeria's vast iron ore deposits. President Bola Tinubu has set a crude steel production target of 10 million tons annually by 2030. Though the furnace is not running, engineers at the facility have fabricated a modular blast furnace that's currently molding manhole covers, poles and rail tracks for a small section of the Nigerian market. The government has decided to pursue a partnership model under which private investors will finance and operate the facility for 10 to 15 years before transferring it back, while generating returns for the government. The approach mirrors the strategy adopted to revive Nigeria's long idle oil refineries.

That this civilization had a name its own people used, 'Tartaria'. Not the vague 'Tartary' of outdated European maps, but a proper noun, a polity, a cultural and technological colossus that appears again and again in 16th- through 19th-century sources [pre-printing-press] and mentioned in our earliest writings, only to be scrubbed, redrawn, and reduced to a blank spot on the map within a single lifetime. The evidence is not hidden in secret vaults, or under the 'Paws' of miss-attributed monuments, it is hidden in plain sight. It is in the thousands of ornate 'old' buildings that predate the supposed invention of reinforced concrete yet contain miles of it within. It is in the world-spanning network of orphanages and asylums built to identical plans on every continent within a decade of one another. It is in the molten cities photographed after the so-called 'Great Fires', in the 'mudflood' strata that buried first floors across the Northern Hemisphere. It is in the star forts whose true purpose was never military but energetic, creating concentric patterns across the landmass and all connected and collecting from source. What happened to Tartaria is the question this book refuses to let die.
