For the past two weeks, I’ve been working alone to build a simple shelter for my family, to protect us from the cold and fear. Each Christmas, the youngest member of our household lays the Infant Jesus to rest in His crib as we focus on the day’s greatest gift - Christ’s entry into this broken world - hope manifest. The task now falls to the wee little man and previous years have proven, well, eventful… But this year was perfect. As many of you know, Iron Will is also a huge fan of birthdays and thought it fitting to honor his Savior in the best way he knew how. Enjoy! Merry Christmas! BAM! The hospital is paroling the wee little man! He had a good night, his oxygen levels were more consistent and he’s responding well to the antibiotic regimen so they’re sending him home! He’ll be on oxygen at home and we’ll keep monitoring him, but this is huge! Besides, they’re unsure of how best to contain Iron Will’s dynamic personality and energy. And “bedside baseball” has a shelf life… 😂😂 Thank you all for your unrelenting prayer and support! What a gift you are to our family! God bless! #IronWill #DownSyndrome #TeamIronWill

I have arrived in Cameroon. I come as pastor and shepherd to be alongside the Anglican faithful, and assure them they are not forgotten. I bring with me the prayers of our global Anglican family. I look forward to being alongside our beloved brothers and sisters in the Diocese of Cameroon - to accompany them, encourage them, and hear about their lives in this land. “In a time of terrible conflicts around the world, and so much suffering here in Cameroon, I come with the message of the Gospel. This is always a message of peace. It is always about the infinite value of every person made in God’s image. And it is always about the hope we have in Christ - who rose from the dead to bring us new life. I invite Anglicans around the world to pray for the Church here and for the people of Cameroon. May these coming days be a blessing and encouragement to us all - and renew our commitment to be bearers of the good news we have in Jesus Christ.

“Burden to society,” my ass! Iron Will was intrinsically valuable from the moment he was conceived. And he walked out of the womb with a solid work ethic. In fact, in the face of adversity, discrimination and doubt, this little dude gets more done by 0900hrs every morning than most of his detractors do all year. He wants to contribute and he loves knowing he’s part of the team. And the heck with his 25% lower muscle tone - the wee little man moves virtual mountains at pace - without complaint. Doesn’t matter what they accomplish, are able to do, or how they communicate, this world is infinitely better because everyone with Down syndrome is in it. And I… well, I am a better man because I know Iron Will, learn from him, and was blessed with the opportunity to love him. I am so grateful for this journey and for every single one of you who has chosen to be here with us. Thank you for every follow, every like, every comment, but even more than that, thank you for every smile and every “hi” I get on the roads of Ala Igbo and beyond. It genuinely blows my mind that simply sharing our family life can connect with so many people. But the Summit of the Future showed that with a spirit of dialogue and compromise, we can join forces to steer our world to a more sustainable path. As this year’s #UNGA activities wind down, we must remember that this is not the end. It is in all our interests to choose the future we want and to guide our world towards it. The journey continues. Let’s keep going.
