Ironically, Howard Stern had warned Jaÿ-Z EXACTLY about that in 2010. He told him that his trauma would hurt his marriage and he should consider therapy but Jaÿ responded that "music was his therapy". Only years later he realized he was wrong and then acknowledged it in 4:44.

and this isn’t an excuse for infidelity, it’s an explanation of where that emotional immaturity came from. For many men (especially of his generation and in the black community) vulnerability isn’t taught, which is why i believe albums like 4:44 or Mr Morale are so important.

The anger didn’t let him see through it. He was too focused on not ending up like his dad, and he thought that was enough. But you need to heal inside to be able to feel free, to live free from that pain. Music can heal, but you need expert guidance with certain topics.

that’s the thing. he wasn’t even feeling it at this time, rather he was intellectualizing it.

he did blackface, he had segment on a show where he picked out who’s the ugliest woman, and was just constantly bullying female celebrities

Dang. What I find most impressive here is how consistent dude has been. To me, he’s always been vulnerable and clearly, honest. Not that he owes his listeners that, but it’s appreciated from an artist you admire.

He should have went to therapy. Howard was right. But then we may not have gotten the art so it’s a double edged sword!

Howard Stern is the best interviewer still but now Stern’s pops never left him but he has spoken about their rough relationship for his entire radio career. He also spoke about how he felt it hurt his 1st marriage & how he raised his kids

I don’t like Howard’s interviewing technique. Reading JayZ’s body language…he seems uncomfortable, and anxious speaking on the topic. So instead of asking forward questions, and allowing J to get it out…Howard instead imposes his own thoughts & cuts him off. 😒

If therapy works, why is Howard still such a mess. He’s been in therapy for over 39 years. He’s a mess.
