@metoffice When you were a kid, plane engines were different and far far fewer planed were flying. Contrails have been a thing since planes could fly high enough and that's pre WW2. Just look at these beauties from then

@metoffice Wether Contrails or Chemtrails, there's evidence just by looking up that planes are polluting our skies. Contrails will disappear, Chemtrails will spread out, after about 20mins the sky will be a murky grey. Bots and Trolls will be ignored.

@metoffice -.- blue sky means less clouds, clouds represent humidity in the air at high altitudes. Contrails are literally visible humidity. So of course, they are way easier to spot (and the eye can see planes leaving contrails better, more reference), more pronounced on a humid day.

@metoffice When wet low pressure air mass comes in there is nowhere for water from exhaust to go, thus they linger. If it is dry air, exhaust gases dissipate faster thus you can't see them That's why you are going to see them just before rain and cloudy sky comes in.
