My dad and I regularly build furniture (not assemble from Ikea: BUILD!) and we have NEVER broken a “regular” hammer. Why on earth would I need a stronger (and I bet far more expensive) hammer???? Oh, I get it: this is for show-offs who will never really use it.

No it’s just marketing and leaning into gadgets/asmr. A quality hammer with dampening and a good grip is definitely worth it though. Bought one probably 16 years back when I was an apprentice that’s still going strong.
