Is a home birth better? What would you prefer? Thoughts?!

What are your thoughts on the H1-B Visa program?

For both of our daughters, my wife thought about this choice and decided “to be where we would want to go if something went wrong”

I did the hospital for the first one and home birth for the second one. Phenomenally better at home with an empowering midwife and as many people as I wanted in the room with me. The hospital was controlling and condescending.

As an obstetrician I’ve had many disaster come into the hospital who’ve attempted home birth. It’s true that the odds are in your favor. 80-90% will happen safely. If you are in that other percentage the consequences could be devastating. Dead babies. Dead moms. Not worth it.

This is stupid and part of the reason we the highest rate of maternal deaths in the developed world. What happens if you have complications? Huh… that warm water gonna save you from bleeding out Becky?

It’s all fun and games until the shit hits the fan. Good luck if the baby has a cord wrapped around the neck or decels or is breach. You’re likely delivering a stillborn or a severely handicapped child

I have to marry and find someone that cares so deeply about shit like this. Ultimate femininity extremely nurturing and caring. Mom qualities super healthy. That’s a success and a 10 to me. So much value. That’s like having a rich wife at home.

I thought this was the woman from the show “doc” at first 🤣

Our bodies adapt to our environments. It’s only logical that a woman in the process of labor would feel safer at home. That has a profound effect on her nuerochemical release in her brain, impacting the entire experiance.

I trust anyone wearing scrubs on a podcast 😭 Did she just get off her shift? Did she not know she was going to be on the podcast? Why would that be her outfit of choice? Is it to fool people in to thinking she is a licensed medical doctor?
