No. The relationship with Jesus isn't through the church, it's through the Holy Spirit. Your relationship with other believers and learning to live like Christ is what the church is. The believers are the church.

No it’s not, which is my fundamental problem with Catholicism. I remember jesus saying that he is the way truth and the life and none shall go to the father except through him. I don’t remember him saying to establish a hierarchy of power and leadership. I don’t remember him saying you must confess your sins to a leader of your church and repeat phrases as penance.

For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; -1 Timothy 2:5 And call no man your father (Pope) on earth, for you have one Father, who is in heaven.-Matthew 23:9 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.-John 14:26

When Christ was on the cross and the temple veil was torn, that represented the end of any barrier between God and believers. At that moment, all believers, Jew and Gentile, obtained full access to the throne room of Heaven, without the need for an intermediary.

Nowhere in the Bible does it mention needing a middleman, rather having a personal relationship with Jesus.

I agree with Shawn. Seems like all these “Churches” want is money and power. Not my idea of what god would have wanted for his people.

Yeah, he just made that up bro to fit their churches' blatant contradictions in the same book they claim to preach from. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that.

I assume you mean why a church, or why liturgy. Because Jesus set it up that way. He told us to go to Mass at the Last Supper. He made St. Peter the head of his church. He gave the apostles the authority to forgive sins. Any other way leads to making Christ in our own image.

The catholic church is Apostate. 1 Timothy 2: 5-8 5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; 6 Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time. 7 Whereunto I am ordained a preacher, and an apostle, (I speak the truth in Christ, and lie not;) a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and verity. 8 I will therefore that men pray every where, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and doubting.
