Certainly โ€œdidnโ€™t work outโ€ for Bridget. The most uneducated education minister in the history of the role. The sooner she resigns the better for โ€œallโ€ children. Even worse, she thinks sheโ€™s progressive, when all she really is, is just another, tedious Marxist dinosaur.

I enjoyed this interview. I felt a pang of hope if we get @bphillipsonMP as our education secretary. I was not impressed by Rory banging on about the private schools situation, which is the least of our worries with regards ed in this country (I'm a teacher in a state school).

Yes. Just look at how some treat Angela Reynar even though she worked her way up to become part of the top table in the Labour Party. Itโ€™s disgraceful how they talk down to her & yet some women in opposition with no talent are never disrespected because of their class

For most people it isn't. However for the Labour Party it seems to be an obsession. Their constant bashing on about how "working class" they are is wearing thin. It's embarrassing. The world has changed. It's not cloth cap and whippets " up north." We don't care! Just do the job!

She actually says she had the benefits of a state education and thought it was great. So why does she constantly go on about changing it

Not a fan of how Rory engages here at all. I like listening to his views but not the way his response seems so steeped in one perspective

We wil always need Classes. There will always be poor people there will always be rich people. The trick is to work your way up the ladder to not be a poor person. Anything else is Socialism crap.

She fails to accept or recognise that the working class is not a monolith. There are levels within the working class and those of lower working class are ignored by Labour's shadow education minister. So do I think she will listen to people's real concerns once in power? Hard NO!

I love you @RoryStewartUK but Iโ€™ll be honest - you really didnโ€™t get what she was saying and your background stopped you from understanding. I heard Alastair make a background comment when he gave your children his books โ€œweโ€™ll get then in a state school yetโ€. Heโ€™s right โœ”๏ธ

Bridget Phillipson is a Labour Friend of Israel. A 'Friend' of a state committing Genocide & murdering innocent children on a daily basis. In fact, most of Starmer's Shadow Cabinet (including Starmer) are LFI. These people are not fit to govern. #DontVoteLabour

Access to societal opportunities is directly correlated to wealth and how wealthy you are is usually determined by accident of birth. Those who are not lucky enough to be born into comfort should be given a hand up. More investment in deprived areas is needed.

To anyone who thinks the effects of the British class system can be neutralised by either achieving a high level of personal wealth or even moving away from the country entirely - I offer this picture as evidence to the contrary

Totally agree with Bridget. Perception was a barrier before for state schoolkids. Privately educated will always have better chances so there's still a long way to go. Happy for Education to be in Bridget's capable hands - she really will do a f*"&ing good job!

We are certainly benefiting from the full range of talent in the current Labour government. Not in a good way.

It never ceases to amaze me living in a Tory Blue wall safe seat how many working class right wing voters there are that actualy don't realise they are working class. ๐Ÿคท

She might want to be a bit less angry with it. โ€˜I lived in a Council house, I went to a comp.โ€™ Boo hoo. Are you fit to govern or not? Few care where you are from. Where are you at?

JUST IN: ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿ‡ท๐Ÿ‡บ Russian Think Tank RISS Warns Putin, Britain Is Far More Powerful Than Moscow Thinks Britain may be smaller than Russia, but underestimating the UK would be a serious strategic mistake. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง 4 Vanguard class nuclear submarines form the backbone of Britainโ€™s deterrent, armed with Trident II D5 SLBMs. Each has 16 missile tubes, while Britainโ€™s nuclear stockpile is estimated at around 225 warheads. The biggest advantage is survivability. A British SSBN operating covertly at sea is extremely difficult to locate and destroy, giving London a credible second strike capability. And Britain is adding another layer: โœˆ๏ธ 12 F-35A Lightning II stealth fighters are being acquired for NATOโ€™s nuclear mission, with a long term ambition of 138 F-35s across the programme. Meanwhile, Britain is replacing the Vanguard fleet with 4 Dreadnought class SSBNs, ensuring its nuclear deterrent continues for decades. Beyond nuclear weapons, Britain fields F-35B, Typhoon, Astute class attack submarines, aircraft carriers, advanced destroyers and frigates, alongside world class intelligence and surveillance capabilities. ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง Britain doesn't need Russiaโ€™s enormous arsenal. It needs enough survivable capability to guarantee one thing: A first strike against Britain could never prevent devastating retaliation. Russia may have far greater military mass, but Britain still packs a nuclear punch Moscow cannot afford to underestimate. ๐Ÿ‘€
