@djvlad Even before AI my high school teacher in Toronto Mr. Turrell said you can get a ph.D or hop into any high level class instead of paying thousands for it by just going on YouTube and it really stuck in my head.

@djvlad College isn’t useless. But “go to college and figure it out later” is. At today’s prices, a degree needs an investment thesis.

@ChrisCamillo @djvlad Depends what you are trying to do. To say this as a blanket statement is trash.

@djvlad I wasted 3 years at university “studying” Business Administration. Honestly, 3 weeks would have been enough. At least I studied for free in Germany. I didn’t waste the money. But I wasted three years of my life.

@djvlad Chris, I disagree. multidisciplinary approach is important to problem solving, however, agree that AI is changing how studs learn. Thats what I am trying to do & its not an easy, if we measure increased skills and expertise. Not avoiding or relying on AI, but working w/ it

@djvlad @ChrisCamillo Agree. But are your children going to go to college?

@djvlad The price is too prohibitive in most cases, I agree. However, living in a dorm away from the bubble of my immediate family/upbringing was the invaluable experience, not the classes I took. To me, that's the unintended consequence

@djvlad Intentional overreaction for views. The most innovative company on the planet still looks for college degrees.

@djvlad Hard agree. I actually think college is worse than no college. I work at one and I have had multiple student employees who I direct tell me they have become more pessimistic on the world the more time they've spent in school because the professors are teaching Malthusian ideas.

College or University isn’t useless but it’s depending on why you are going and what degree you’re studying. If you’re paying huge fees going into massive debt and can’t even get a decently paying career out of it then there’s no point beyond social bragging rights and those aren’t that useful anyway. I personally went to sharpen my ability to research and critically think but that was my personal choice. Nobody should feel forced into it in my opinion.
