Is golf instruction getting out of hand?
10 Yorum

What a lovely, purely anecdotal story. Are we going to pretend that the overall standard of golf on tour isn’t at an all time high? Multiple factors obviously involved but like everything in life, tuition has evolved & teaching tech has removed lots of grifters from the industry.

Nicklaus' swing thoughts (from my recall) 1 - complete the backswing 2 - steady head 3 - hit the ball on the inside Am I right Jack? @jacknicklaus

Zinger is spot on. Look at Tiger. He finally figured out that he messed up leaving Butch and basically has figured it out on his own. Haney and Foley screwed him up. Golf instruction is a racket and it’s become a lot less important because of social media and YT. The most important thing anyone can do for their golf game is to get your body right. Flexibility is king. Loose hips. Strong legs and wrists.

"Two turns and a swish". John Jacobs

Saying "You know what my problem is? I'm thinking too much" to myself before I clear my mind and slice it 60 yards into the trees...

True, after you already have mastered many of the proper swing movements. But not true for players who have multiple swing flaws.

I started putting down tape on either side of the ball just enough for my Club face to get through. And another piece behind the ball. And that’s all I worry about. I’m been playing better than I’ve ever played. Just trying to hit the back of the ball without hitting tape.

So true

@CaseyFBannon What is he focusing on? I know countless guys who fixed a major swing fault (death move) with some basic instruction and worked to become proficient golfers around 0-2 handicaps. So many overly mechanical swing myths have been busted. He should celebrate that.
