The reason people don't care now is because they're the majority who followed like sheep to accept what occurred. It was apathy on a grand scale. There were people (myself included - and I'm not an MD) who could see the medical research was (to put it politely) fudged. But no, just as shown in Stanley Millgram's experiment (link provided) the populace followed the order of those in white coats (in this case, the medical profession, which was controlled by politicians, who in turn were controlled by big pharma).
