Generally there are guards or workers on either side who stop vehicles till danger is over. Thars and their owners can be used in place of these guards to check if stones are still falling.

Yes. Agree. It's a bad idea to try this. But, I guess in the hills it's commonplace as people will just want to get on with it. Look at the nonchalance. Life in the hills is very difficult, and so it moulds strong character. Makes strong people. All said and done, it's risky.
