Is it possible for a spring to offset gravity?

If you ran the same test under water you would increase your numbers on your suspension time. It's not gravity affecting both scenarios it's buoyancy. The water test amplifies that.

The center of mass of the item drop at the same rate. The elasticity of the spring or bungee causes the assembly to shorten, but it shortens from the top while the bottom stays put. The center of mass actually drops farther on the shortened assembly, that’s why it takes longer.

I thought the entire point of a spring is to offset gravity

He just kept upgrading 💀

This is a genuinely good contribution.

Love it's

The principle scales to larger objects like a car suspended by springs, which hovers for 146 ms, illustrating how stored elastic energy delivers a temporary upward force against gravitational pull.

👀 you just need to be able to jump aside in time 🫣

Yep, Spiderman notices this many years ago.

Interesting
