Flawed test🤦‍♂️ Your finger pulls back the trigger against your own hand, which naturally causes movement in your grip and affects your aim This clown is using an external force to fire the weapon, so the holder doesn't need to move their hand or finger at all to shoot

He does NOT have a point. They’re literally shooting at two feet.

At two yards trigger pull doesn't matter but if the back that up to 10 or 15 he's going to start walking it off target

It was demonstrated to us in a class at 7 yards. As Paul Harrell always said. Not enough differences to make a difference. It's your grip, people.

All of these idiots in the comments saying this isn't a true test and calling John McPhee, an actual legend of a retired Delta Force operator, an idiot are missing the entire point of this demonstration. I was there. The shooter is my friend, Ed. (That's my voice in the background saying it's the best Ed had shot all day.) Shrek is showing that your actual finger doesn't cause any of those traditionally taught effects on your shooting accuracy. It is part of the course that is teaching proper grip, arm alignment, and posture. The point being that it doesn't matter how hard you pull the trigger. Your grip and posture are the important factors. It doesn't matter what they've been teaching people for decades or what your shooting coach says. Shrek's demonstration, along with the training and practice prior to it, is correct. If you have a proper strong grip on your pistol, what your finger does is irrelevant. It's similar to when Pat McNamara says it doesn't matter how much finger you put on the trigger. Because it doesn't if you are gripping the weapon properly.

You could hit it with a dump truck and be on target at three feet. I want to see it at 7 yrds and 20 yards.

The biomechanics of the hand in the act of squeezing, along with finger placement on the trigger, can absolutely cause displacement of a round through "Trigger Jerk". This is a poor demonstration that's made to appeal to the lowest common denominator (idiots).

Experienced professional here: 'Trigger jerk' is the 'jerk' people subconsciously do to anticipate the shot. Your body tries to compensate for the movement of the weapon when you pull the trigger. More to it but text limit 🤷

Shrek is a piece of shit. Look into his history on YT. He is essentially another Tim Kennedy or Nick Irving.

Trigger jerk doesnt come from pulling too hard or to quick. It comes from the hand twitching while the trigger is pulled or an uneven pull to the left or right. That being said, if trigger jerk is throwing off your shots grip IS your problem.

Wait what? Theres literally zero trigger pull in this demo which removes the trigger pull factory. I think his demonstration proves the opposite of his point but i’d need to watch the entire video. If your finger isn’t bringing the trigger home in a straight pull and is jerking it to one side, your shot will be off. Has nothing to do with how hard you press it as long as it’s consistently centered. I’m not an expert like the guy in the video though.

Grip is everything! 95% grip, 5% front sight.

He's arguing that trigger jerk is pulling the trigger too hard. Trigger jerk is pulling the trigger with poor form and that is made worse the harder you pull it.

Now do it strong hand only and tell me about trigger pull...

Your trigger finger is attached to your hand and the rest of your muscles/nervous system. Moving your finger completely independent of the rest of your hand while griping the firearm firmly is not something people naturally do without practice.

It was never about "jerking the trigger". It's about anticipating the recoil. When the shooter jerks the trigger it move the gun before the round leaves. We squeeze the trigger to minimize that movement.

Your finger has multiple hinge points in motion during trigger pull that a metal rod does not. Now, if his example it to illustrate training a stiffer finger motion or how to eliminate torsion from your biomechanics, it's not in the clip.

It’s a demonstration on trigger punching. Basically saying, as long as your pull is straight back it doesn’t matter how hard you pull. I just want to see this demo at 7yds. I imagine it’s not gonna look as good but I think it will tell a more accurate truth.
