Theoretically possible, but so much easier with the propellers on top.

Oh!

Coaxial rotors so cancel out torque (no crazy spinning) and then vector control on the props to "balance".

That also helpful.

Vectoring is simpler mechanics than cyclic and collective. The flight controller is quite a bit more complicated.

Yes I see.

Helicopter does it

Фото профиля The Cosmos Network

But centre of mass of helicopter is below his wings.

Yeah but this was a stabilisation issue which drones solved algorithmically years ago

@MoonriseBill the stabilization principle is similar to the Falcon 9 booster or any DIY gadget with microcontroller on two wheels

@MoonriseBill Really? You are saying it's similar to falcon 9 stability system.

What's the use case? And if the stand breaks, you're SOL. Not a resilient/robust design.

While this stuff is always cool, it's not new. What's new now is the SCALE of how Elon Musk is achieving it. NASA tried for decades.

At what angle does it become unrecoverable? And wouldn't that issue be solved with the center of mass below the blades... like a helicopter?
