Being sore all the time is not a badge. It means: - Your volume is too high - Your recovery is in deficit - Your next session is compromised - Your nervous system is still cleaning up the last one - Your growth is being throttled by accumulated damage Soreness is a sign you did something. It is not a sign you did the right thing. A trained muscle in a sensible programme should rarely be sore at all. The first few weeks of a new stimulus, yes. After that, your body adapts. Failure mostly buys fatigue you pay for tomorrow. More sets feels like more muscle. Past a point, more sets is just more tired. The slow negative feels hardcore. You're strongest lowering a weight, so dragging it out asks for nothing new. Two heavy sets feels like too little. Two heavy sets near failure is most of the entire signal. The feeling and the result are not the same thing. The gym is full of people chasing the feeling. The few who got big chased the result, then went home.

If the weight, reps, or sets aren't increasing over time, you're not training. You're exercising. Training has direction. Exercise is just movement. "But I'm working really hard!" Working hard at the same load you used 6 months ago isn't training. It's maintenance. Your body adapts to stimulus. Once adapted, there's no reason to grow further. You must provide novel stimulus: - More weight - More reps at same weight - More sets (carefully) - Better form at same load Something must improve or you're spinning your wheels. "I can't always progress!" Then you're doing too much volume or training too frequently relative to your recovery capacity. You should be able to progress something every 2-3 weeks at minimum. If you're stuck: - Reduce volume to increase recovery - Focus on one lift to prioritise - Check if you're actually eating enough You can't build muscle without building strength over time. The two are correlated at the individual level. If your lifts aren't going up over months, neither is your muscle mass. Track everything. Compare to last month. Progress or adjust. Training without progression is just going to the gym.

Good morning!😊 My stomach is feeling better! But last night, my daughter made me a cake with rice flour, raisins, nuts, eggs, and soy milk. I don’t usually eat things like that, so it was really delicious! You can train with as much junk volume as you want, go nowhere near failure, and you'll still pack muscle. You could cancel your gym membership, spend the next few months crashing on the couch, and you'll still build muscle. Now imagine you're also a genetic anomaly, an elite responder to those anabolics. Imagine you then build a stack that could bring down a horse. That's how we get pro bodybuilders. People who often spout the most ridiculous training advice because they don't know any better. The feedback loop is broken. They can spend all their time on meaningless junk volume, pay zero heed to fatigue, and they'll still look like freaks. Now let's say you're a natty who's blindly following the gospel set down by high volume bodybuilders. Year after year, you make minimal progress. Rather than shrugging your shoulders and assuming you've reached your genetic potential, it might be worth wondering whether it's a smart strategy to copy the programme of people who'd be getting jacked while binging Netflix.

This is why I get so frustrated when I see people post rubbish about persistent hip pain being driven by tightness in muscles, or mobility issues, or because they have switched off glutes. It’s so much more complex. I’d like to think I’m at the coal face of dealing with patients who often have persistent pain for years and years. They struggle and it really can take a toll, physically and mentally. Unfortunately all too often these patients have had masses of input, all often forgetting about the number one important thing, the patient, and treating them as a person. People deal with mental health issues in various ways and as healthcare practitioners we need to consider how we screen and manage those who maybe struggle more. It’s self perpetuating as ultimately the anxiety will grow with the poorer level of management. Those being managed incorrectly, ultimately leads to no positive outcome, that increases anxiety that the issue won’t resolve, and ultimately it’s a spiral. We need to break that cycle, it isn’t easy. It definitely is not so simplistic as to just strengthen your hip flexors, or to do some stretches. It’s about building physical and emotional resilience with rehab and that for me is a skill that sets apart the best physios from the rest. Remember: We treat people with hip pain. We don’t treat hip pain.

The older body clears fatigue more slowly, repairs more slowly, and tolerates far less accumulated work before progress stops entirely. Every GP, every physio, every trainer will nod along to that sentence. Then watch what gets prescribed on the back of it. High reps. Long burning sets. Circuits. Three sessions of cardio stacked on top. A protocol whose main product is fatigue, given to the person with the least capacity left to absorb any. They identified a recovery problem and prescribed more recovery cost. The answer runs the other way and it is not complicated. If your recovery budget has shrunk, you spend it on whatever returns the most growth per unit of fatigue, and that is a heavy set of five. Four to six reps, a handful of lifts, three minutes between sets, done inside the hour. Nearly every rep is a growth rep. Almost nothing goes on the burning, the sweating and the gasping, which build nothing at all and then bill you for four days. Twenty-five reps taken to failure is a fortnight of fatigue for a fraction of the stimulus. That is not the cautious option for a sixty-five-year-old. It is the most reckless thing on the timetable. Now the part that actually matters. Ageing is not one process. It is a list. Muscle wastes. Bone thins. Tendon softens. I think it was 3,000, so because it was so good, I bought it. and after that yesterday too while wandering around here and there, i happened to walk into a cafe and they had LPs there too so yesterday, I bought one or two ㅎㅎ lp's no mater how you look it they have a vibe... its true that nowadays you can just look up and listen to everything on your phone, but another good thing about it (lps) is that I think it’s really great for finding songs you don't know so when going to the lp shop you get to learn a lot of new songs that you didn't know before. even if you don't go with the sole purpose of buying an LP, it's just... really great for discovering things... should I say? a riize lp would also be good... back then, during boom boom bass, we even went there and did all that stuff with our LP too... how was the video editing? back then when i went to school when doing things like presentations, together with other students we would edit videos.. i did lowkey find that kind of stuff pretty fun though because it was pretty much my first time [doing that] since back during those days... but really i think it was fun like... yeah.. i want to try to do it again when i was young i did draw. i drew for fun but it had been such a long time since i last properly sat down and tried to draw something properly with a pencil.. i think it's been such a long time i'm probably the worst at drawing in my family? ㅎㅎ my dad's good, my mom's also good.. my grandpa also draws reaññu well. but it was fun drawing again, so i also want to try that again... why is there so many things i want to do? really why is it? and above all, i want to work really hard on music so that someday i can show you even more. now, like from the trailer to the full version that was uploaded to our site... those kinds of things are a bit different from just being a song, though.. now everyone, let's try meditating together with me sorry.. anyways.. i have to leave in a couple hours actually, so.. time to hit the hay, yeehaw i can't fall asleep right away ㅎㅎ this.. seems like it might be a bit difficult to interpret/translate..
