Is Mario Galaxy the GOAT 3D Mario game?

I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again; Super Mario Galaxy is the Mario franchise’s equivalent of Sonic Adventure 2. It’s the game that changed the series forever and defined Nintendo’s most beloved console generation

Hot take, but...no. It's an absolutely brilliant game that I think everyone should play, but it didn't quite capture me the same way 64 and Sunshine did. And no, I don't have nostalgia goggles on, because I also think Odyssey is better, too.

No. Not even close. I'm somebody who places a lot of importance into art style and music, and even I cringe when I hear people overrate this game. Mario is a series that pioneered "gameplay first." This game does not touch Mario Odyssey, Sunshine, or 64. It's stiff and gimmicky.

well, its a perfect game in every imaginable way plot, art, music, gameplay, even UI design
