As much as I like the cuisine and history, India was the most overwhelming place I've ever traveled to. There is no hiding your whiteness in the crowd, and you are constantly targeted wherever you go for shake downs... I stayed with a friend whose family is wealthy by US standards, but you still can't escape the masses of people, chaotic streets, pollution, unthinkable poverty, brutal heat, and unimaginable birth defects generated by in-breeding and toxins... That said, the Taj Mahal is one of the true wonders of the world and worth visiting...

They scam Indians too espically the ones from America speaking with an American accent. It’s why I stopped going back. I had to cut off family because they acted like them.

Lived in India for two years over 20 years ago. You have to be observant at all times. There are always hands out demanding rupees for almost everything.

I've been to India it really is like this constantly. It's called the skin tax. They see a white person and almost every person is trying to get money out of you it's exhausting. Shop keepers will literally pull you by the arm into their shops.

When you walk around India where a tank top and some shorts with no baggage. And some sandals. You look just as broke as they are, and no one will bother you

Been twice, massive pros and cons. Did it in my 20s, probably wouldn’t jump at the chance now in my 40s. Constant groping attempts, scams. Scenery, however, is incredible. Did meet some lovely people, but you need to have your guard up.

If you think Indian CEOs and managers who moved to America act much differently, you’re in for a rude awakening. Their business practices aren’t terribly different than what you see here.
