Paul McCartney is speaking his rawest truth in this ITN footage from December 9, 1980, just hours after learning of John Lennon’s murder. While the press famously vilified him for calling his best friend’s death "a drag," the insider reality is far more human: Routine as a Shield: Paul later admitted he couldn’t bear to stay home with the news, so he went to the studio just to listen to tapes and keep his mind from snapping. "I Was Doing...": In the clip, he explains he was working to stay occupied. When the reporter ambushed his car, Paul was in a state of total emotional numbness. The Weight of Words: For Paul, "a drag" was the heaviest word he could find in a moment of absolute void. It wasn't coldness; it was the limit of his grief for a tragedy he likened to the JFK assassination. 🤔 Fun fact: That very morning, Paul had to be the one to break the news to Linda and their children, a moment he described as the hardest of his life. Years later, he wrote "Here Today" as the final conversation he never got to have with John that day. Did you know? 🤯

Reality is he doesn't know. If it increases schizophrenia, clearly no. But he's right that other poisons are legal, and that is pathetic hypocrisy.

My colleague's son got a conviction for robbery, completely out of character, then almost tripled in weight because of the antipsychotics he needed for cannabis induced psychosis. It's as bad for some, as everything he lists.

Cannabis isn't dangerous. But Paul McCartney died in a car accident decades ago.

He is 83. In this video he was much younger. The THC as ingredient is 5 times higher than years before. You can´t compare it to the cannabis you get today.

I'll take a pass at inhaling carcinogens, whether from tobacco, cannabis, or any other substance that goes up in smoke.

The only one I'd question is nicotine, but I agree with the rest.

There haven't been that many studies about the effects of long-term use of Marijuana and Paul McCartney isn't a doctor or a scientist.

Alcohol is far worse than cannabis, Nico’s far worse than cannabis. It helped my husband when he was in pain. He was a a disabled vet. Definitely better than opioids…

He's an idiot! Marijuana is more harmful, as it acts in different ways, stays in your system for 30 days rather than 24 hrs or less (alcohol). McCartney is a moron.

And yet cannabis has been shown to produce psychosis in first-time users

He was correct, but the problem is modern cannabis is saturated with additional chemicals to increase its potency & due to market demand. Typical today's THC content is about 20% where in the 80s it was only 2-5%. Modern THC causes side effects such as paranoia & hallucinations.

He probably wants us all doped up so we don´t know how to fight the system. This guy is not the original Paul. He strikes me as a liar. A big one. Check out the work of Mike Williams.

Generally a libertarian on these issues...but recently studies have suggested that it increases the possibility of schizophrenia and cognitive decline.

He is wrong, they are equally as dangerous and not to mention weed 30-40 years ago is an entirely different substance than weed today which has been mass produced and infused with chemicals

I just don't do either. Beer stinks way less than cannabis though. Smelling that shit at a concert is an annoyance too
