Yes, in the sense that the horrors have to survive Leon.

🤣

No

It's the game that destroyed survival horror. The genre was dead for over a decade before indie devs started making them again!

Nah. Its Action Horror. You are simply too powerful and nothing is particularly overwhelming or feels like you cant kill it.

Survival action horror 😁

I actually do find the game scary. And I love it. But ya you’ve convinced me it’s not due to lack of resource scarcity or strategic combat avoidance Same boat dead space is in

Nope, it's action horror for sure. Distinctly different thing. And that would be fine if it didn't have "Resident Evil"/"Biohazard" in its title...

It’s the best game of all time, but it’s an action horror

Yes. For the spanish characters.

🤣

No but it’s the best game ever made. Anyone who disagree can argue with a wall lmfao

I love RE4 but if it had any other title it’d be unanimously agreed upon as an action game with a couple mildly creepy segments

I also love Resident Evil 4, a game’s genre is not a value judgement, and classifying Resident Evil 4 as action horror does not mean that I dislike it.

I dunno but it’s pretty dang fun!

No

RE4 got me into the RE games, but a majority of 4 was not horror…. Until you get to the regenerators 😂

Action game with horror themes

Ashleys section is survival horror , I would even count the U3 section as survival horror . RE4 is a perfect blend of action horror , ever since then it got milked .

I agree Ashleys section is not action horror but it is probably better described as stalker horror becasue she can't fight back like Haunting Ground and Clock Tower. I think the best blend or hybrid is RE9.

No!

No. These guys drop ammo

Absolutamente no

No

Aesthetically horror, systematically an action game. People see dark and spooky and assume its survival horror, but survival horror is horror through mechanics not necessarily aesthetics. The original Resident Evil would be an example of systemic horror without the aesthetics.

Well said Nikki 🙂

Another example depending on which version of DOOM 3 you play it is either a horror game through aesthetics alone or mechanically horror just from whether or not you are holding a flashlight. Horror systems have to impose some limitation on the player to decide how to deal with.

I haven't actually played Doom 3 yet, it always gets recommend to me as a survival horror but it looks pretty action packed to me!😆 Does it even have puzzles?

A few, mainly the gas chamber where you play a claw game to move barrels out of a room to clear the gas, and some reading of notes to find out more about what’s coming or how to unlock something. It’s still Doom, but the flashlight changes everything.

Doom 3 BFG adds a visor flashlight so you never have to switch, and ammo pickups give more ammo. Original Doom 3 wasn’t necessarily light on ammo (at least from a recent Veteran playthrough I did some months back) but you have moment to moment decision making not present in BFG.

No?

No, it was the first of the Action horror games for the series and nearly destroyed the franchise. Fuck RE4

*headshots 4 ganados without kicking a single of them* yeah im scrolling away

Let the video play, I kick about 6 of them at once 🤣

ok im back

Yes but in the barest ways arguably. Scary imagery and only one real scary section but otherwise its still following the rules of Survival Horror, especially at the time.

No, its action game. Same like 5 and 6, but re4 glazers not ready for that conversation

No.

RE4 and RE4 reamke are Action horror, I mean in all honesty all of the qualify as action horror where 1 was mostly survival horror but ammo was not limited like people act like it was and you had plent of weapons to upgrade with from 2 forward.

Yeah

It's quality, is what it is

NAH 😺

Fast paced smooth gameplay “action horror” but here’s a reason why they made this change is because both RE1 remake and RE Zero were commercial failure when they came out in GameCube, Capcom wanted more people to the series and the new ones called both “nonsense outdated”

Why ask a question to which you know the answer?

Having an opinion and knowing an answer are two different things.

There is no “answer” then if the responses are all opinions.

There doesnt need to be an answer, I just like talking about the games. If you don't then move on.
