Anthem was composed by E Sontonga in 1897. Theres one constant on that anthem, "our land". They colonised and partitioned the land into their colonies called countries, now we are struggling with a gorvenance system that the colonizer brought, our leaders are still their puppets.

It was intentional, hence, the "maluphakamiswe uphondo" refered to Djibuti. The song was not specifically for the RSA but Africa as whole. Sontonga was praying for the continent, because he know that for states to progress the continent must be blessed as a collective
