This happened to me in Germany some years ago. There was a large event and the regular train was overcrowded. Shortly afterwards a steam train with vintage cars appeared as support. 😀

Something similar happened to me but with a bus. I missed it and had to otherwise wait an entire hour for the next one, however a bus with a number i've never seen before (or after) showed up and genuinely drove me in front of my home. It felt almost magical, even back then.
