Is there really a driver shortage? The data says: No. It’s time to stop following the narrative and start looking at the SONAR and FMCSA data.

Our decade plus survey data provides the perspective trucking fleet managers actually operating in the field. The ACT Driver Availability Index shows we have not been short drivers since 2021, but as of March, we are. It isn't perpetual. It's cyclical.

If sonar thinks there is no driver shortage it needs a 2026 update

I have stated time and time again, "there is no driver shortage. However, we do have a shortage of people who know how to treat drivers."

(there's a CHEAP truck driver shortage)

Crazy even single orientation i went through between 2006 and 2016 all said different. Werner Schneider Pather Watkins Sheppard Toyota Coal company

We have been saying no driver shortage for years. Glad you are finally onboard.

It's coming...

There is a shortage of the ones that will work for minimum wage or less

@OOIDA In 2006-2004ish the Truckin Bankruptcy was up 600% and the year before it quoted was 400%. Prior to that the various "Global Van Lines" brought in a lot of Foreign Labor and the "Drivers" were not given a Translation Device. That was the 2nd time the US got Bush'ed in my life.

If ai could go back to 1989 I would have never chosen this career path. Trucking is a complete joke.

There's not a lot of them just don't want to work cheap I have a friend that has 10 trucks they have his own shippers and if shippers do not have work they will not work with brokers and have the 10 truck stops

We have a qualified driver shortage. There is no incentive to become a truck driver. The public sentiment of truck drivers as well as the cost to your life, your health and stress levels is just not worth the money it pays. It's been this way my whole career. 37 years.
