Is this correct? No other countries can replicate the Chinook?

Russia had the YAK-24, but it could only carry about 4,400 lbs compared to the Chinook's beastly 26,000 lbs.

They were great fun as are the Labradors (modded Voyagers) --------------------- Allies such as Japan (via Kawasaki) and Italy have license-produced Chinook variants, while Russia and China rely on different heavy-lift designs like the Mi-26, underscoring US mastery of this specific configuration.

We did have the The Bristol Type 192 Belvedere that ended service in 1968 but haven't had a tandem rotor helicopter domestically produced since in the UK.

Boy, if you ever wanted to make sure a couple was talking to each other, it is those rotors.

Chinooks fly over my house frequently. They make a distinctive sound. Sometimes when I took a walk to lunch from work I would see formations of three Chinooks.

For a bit of clarity, the XCH-62 never really got very far. The empty shell airframe's only flight was Mobile to the Army Aviation Museum under a CH-47. I was there at the delivery. It was cool but nobody was calling the 62 a helicopter at the time and there really was no reason for it to be at Ft. Rucker. It was just another cancelled project. The US Army could have had a larger helicopter. The Army and Congress decided it was unnecessary.

Boeing builds the vast majority of the Chinook helicopters in Pennsylvania. They've licensed a Japanese and Italian company to make them as well.

Yep. The Chinook is as bad ass as the A10.

They don't actually fly. Like many helicopters they're so ugly that the earth repels them.

Russian Mil MI-26. Does the same job as the chinook.

Not really. If someone wanted to, they could. The tech is not unobtainable. Japan has built Chinooks via Kawasaki under license since the 1980s (CH-47J/JA models) and Italy has assembled CH-47C variants through Agusta. But, both remain tied to Boeing designs and US supply chains.

There have been multiple small ones. Here are the big ones. Bristol Type 173 - just a few built Bristol Type 192 Belvedere - used in the 1960s; could carry 19 troops. Yakovlev Yak-24 - Soviet Air Force and Aeroflot. Depending on the model, it could carry 19 or 40 troops.

I was in a US Marine Corps squadron of CH-46 Sea Knights (Phrogs), tandem-rotor helicopters but not Chinooks. Like the Chinooks, they were also Boeing Vertol. However, some tandem-rotor aircraft were not made by Boeing, such as the Piasecki H-21, Yakovlev Yak-24, Bristol Belvedere, and Bell HSL. The video’s claim is not precisely accurate, but the Boeing Vertol aircraft (Chinook and Sea Knight) were by far the most badass versions of such helicopters.
