It's a photo op. Likely they didn't catch the actual landing. It is possible that the whole thing was staged, but why? What's the motivation?

It’s odd that the capsule door opens inward despite the pressurization. Releasing the full, unedited cockpit video would confirm the truth.

Even during the second attempt, Bezos doesn’t even get his wrench on completely and the door flies open. You can see his surprise.
