It's a song, "Day by Day," from Godspell. Still weird.

Did you know that in 1981 resident Jimmy Carter pardoned lead singer Peter Yarrow of the Peter, Paul, and Mary group for raping/molesting a 14yr old girl in 1969 🤔

The prayer recited by Greg Focker in the movie "Meet the Parents" does have origins prior to the film. In the movie, Greg prays, "O dear Lord, three things we pray. To love Thee more dearly. To see Thee more clearly. To follow Thee more nearly... day by day... by day." This prayer is actually derived from a prayer by St. Richard of Chichester, which is known as the "Day by Day" prayer. The original prayer by St. Richard is: "Thanks be to you, our Lord Jesus Christ, for all the benefits which you have given us, for all the pains and insults which you have borne for us. Most merciful Redeemer, Friend and Brother, may we know you more clearly, love you more dearly, and follow you more nearly, day by day. Amen." The prayer became well-known in popular culture through its use in the musical "Godspell," where it is set to music in the song "Day by Day." Thus, the prayer had a significant cultural presence before its use in "Meet the Parents," particularly through the influence of "Godspell," which popularized it in the early 1970s. @grok

All in the last 48 hours or less... A lot of noise drowning out what's really going on right now.
