Is this too complicated for a horror game puzzle?

It seems straightforward to me, but it would be great if you had some log/journal so you could quick-reference the task without running the console again.

For modern audiences (who never played early games, that did not hold your hand) probably yes.

Maybe label the start of each wire so it's easier to understand the instructions if people are having a hard time. Looks straightforward enough to me though.

All the awkwardness comes from the dialogue. Whoever wrote this is either ESL or writing below 5th grade reading level. Having colored bands on the wires to identify them as 1/2/3 and having a diegetic explanation would be much more fun and inviting.

I don’t know, I couldn’t read half of it lol. Literally, on my iPhone (with an OLED screen) I could not read most of the red/orange text against the background. Maybe I’m colorblind?

Not sure, but if I could make a request I'd ask for the red text to be something brighter as I honestly cannot read what it is saying 😅
