Is this true?

If completely false you can clearly verify this countless other ways

Nobody talks about but this guy told me? How can you not trust those bona fides?

Have you ever listened to this?

It was fear of the British empire expanding from Canada to Alaska. Russia was weak and they knew the British could walk in. The US also knew this. Hence a fire sale to the US. Nothing to do with resources

The US and Russia have been friends for a long time. Theatre for the masses

Totally false and easily-checked. Why would anyone listen to these quacks to begin with?

No. It is not in any way true. Russia did not participate in the Civil War.

This isn't true. Russia sent ships to New York and San Francisco during the Civil War. Buying Alaska to conceal Russian involvement is retard take. The US would have no reason not to be friendly with Russia or conceal any deals with them.

I’m just happy to be born Alaskan and not Canadian or Russian!

No. The Russian navy wintered in US ports of NY & SF, which offered a morale boost to the union and possibly deterred in very small part UK & French intervention on the Confederate side, but they did not engage in direct military aid and did not blockade Charleston harbor. They did offer to defend against confederate raiders, tho no such attack occurred. Russia sold Alaska for several reasons including they had lost the Crimean war, the fur trade drIed up, and they feared the UK would take it, but not because of some debt from the US Civil War.

Not exactly. Russia didn’t want it to go to GB. See: Treaty of Cession 1867.
