It’s ironic that another island nation, the one on the LOSING side of WWII chose a much wiser path, & will outlast the UK for generations to come. You see, Japan’s leaders love their people, society and culture much more than the British leaders love theirs. Even though Japan was a radioactive rubble heap at the end of WWII, the Japanese refused to foolishly fling their doors open to hoards of 5th Century throwbacks to rebuild their population and cities. Perhaps, someday, in the not so distant future, the circle will complete itself, and London will look like Tokyo did in 1945.
