It's a pretty solid teen drama periodically interrupted by a mediocre superhero show. It's actually one of the better D+ shows, but that isn't a high bar.

From what I've heard it's influenced the comics, to the point that the powers she's using in this version are actually her mutant powers, rather than her Inhuman powers (Polymorphing). So yes, and I need to watch it myself.
