Is time an illusion? I sat down with physicist Julian Barbour to explore his radical theory: time is just how we interpret changing shapes. He explains why the universe might actually be increasing in order, challenging the second law of thermodynamics. Link in comments below. Timestamps: 00:00 - Introduction... show more

Barbour says time is a succession of shapes. He uses differently shaped triangles as an example. Time is the change from one shape to the next. But he doesn’t explain how we move. What is it that moves from one triangle to the next in his stack of shapes?

Excellent piece! Julian Barbour on shape dynamics and time is great! look at Lee Smolin on time if you can!

Thank you. I don't know if you saw this

💯%. Time is ONLY a register of state change. No state change, no time. 💯% increasing complexification is the direction of universal phenomenology, until Singularity, after which a new cycle begins. Looking forward to this episode!

We are viewing a type of 2D “screen”. Just like we do during dreams. We do not inhabit the third dimension. We are offered the illusion of inhibiting a third dimension because our senses activate and our visual perspective changes.

Yes it is an illusion. When we die we are not in time anymore. "The city had no need of the sun or of the moon to shine in it, for the glory of God illuminated it. The Lamb is its light." Revelations 21:23.

If time doesn’t exist, then what is aging?

If things didn't increase in order, nothing could materialize. Early stage disorder maximizes the distribution of different matter so that they can combine to form different things.

Look at my face and body…. There is No Illusion time is real for sure.
