Is VR Lame? #vr

"But you're not going to find much of it on Meta Quest" - what a bullshit... Typical elitism of PCVR fanatics. I'm a PCVR user and a standalone Quest user, and I won't divide the platforms into better and worse. PCVR only has an advantage in terms of graphics, but it won't feature many of the great games that were exclusive to Quest (like Assassin's Creed Nexus, Asgard's Wrath 2, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Deadpool VR...). Besides, you completely ignore the fact that PCVR is now only alive and well thanks to Quests (which make up over 60% of all PCVR devices), and by relying only on mods, PCVR is dying because it is not making money. It's not the Quest that's doing damage to VR. It's blind elitism like yours.

A bit harsh on the Quest. Without the Quest we would have to spend £1000 plus on a headset for PCVR, I see you did that, great. And I see you have quality gear but you upload a video in 720p?

It’s 1080p. Don’t blame me for X’s compression 💀

Yeah because I’m not paying for the checkmark 💀 it’s 1080p on YouTube. Are you purposely being obtuse??

No, I’m dumb. Thanks for the information 😉

"spend over $10k like I did on VR gadgets and it'll be enjoyable" The problem is no AAA company wants to bother with VR as it's such a small niche. For many game dev companies VR isn't worth the investment. Look how lazy Skyrim and Fallout VR were (only to be "fixed" by mods over 7 years later) Valve tried to jump start other companies making VR titles with HL:Alyx and although it was a great game, it wasn't big enough to get any invested. Haven't even touched upon comfort or motion sickness that some users encounter. It's an expensive niche that a very small amount of people get a chance to play or enjoy.

I mostly agree, but you forgot about PSVR2 and those few hybrid games that are worth getting for PSVR2—like GT7, RE4, RE8, and Hitman. And these aren't just jank mods; they're modes developed by the devs. Plus, there are many indie games that are really worth playing.

Vr will never reach mainstream adoption if you’re trying to advocate for a gaming PC and a treadmill as the barrier of entry.

And it’ll die a slow death if you’re advocating for more low poly Gtag clone games with a sketchy cash shop and screaming children 💀

Honestly think you’re just choosing the wrong games. Being a vr elitist will not help anyone

@gingasvr "Margaret, is it wrong for me to enjoy my hobby?" "Yes Bernard, it means you're an elitist and therefore should feel bad about it." Is this your argument? Also, wrong games? WTF you want her to show, Barbie's Big Top Adventure and Frozen Yogurt Simulator?

@gingasvr She specifically made a video talking about how the only way to enjoy virtual reality gaming is to spend over $2000 like she does. that’s called being an elitist

@WareWolfVT You don’t need $2000, ya’ll have a such a lack of tech knowledge 🙄 You can build or get a VR ready PC for less than a Quest 3 🤦♀️

@WareWolfVT Okay please show me the pricing on a VR capable gaming pc and vr treadmill today. Btw, you continue to exhibit elitist tendencies, acting like others do not have the knowledge or resources that you do

@WareWolfVT You don’t need the treadmill bro.. jfc, that’s optional 🤦♀️🤦♀️ Here you go🤦♀️🤦♀️

I cannot wait for the Steam Frame to finally fix the damage the Meta Quest has done. And you're one of the channels that I keep coming back to because your VR content is so creative, so damn it keep up the awesome work! >:D

Im pretty sure that little video was to stir up trouble. I agreed with about 10% of it.

As a PCVR user, I am gonna disagree with you about the Meta Quest being 'too weak' for good VR games. The issue isn't the hardware. It is the attitude of the developers. They want something easy, that pulls a fast profit, & brainrot slop is what you get when you think like that.

Honsestly Meta Quest is a blessing and a Curse. Many Title who wants to sell needs to be Dumbed down to work on it, which limits the gameplay & visual style possibilities. but on the Brightside, It's made VR way cheaper & actually got it on somewhat mainstream stage.

I would say the most recent truly great standalone vr game is Arkham Shadow. The game is a masterclass in storytelling, immersion, and some of the best combat I've seen in a vr game period.

I hate Skyrim fallout and botw I think they all are boring games also Skyrim and fallout innovative? Like what have they done that was innovative?!?!!???

Correct. It's like the industry rewound itself a whole decade to accomodate the mobile push. Which was a ridiculous move. Low poly, lowfi worlds just aren't fun. Meanwhe pcvr has some incredible stuff. I've done full VR runs of modern AAA titles. Indiana Jones, Expedition 33. Avowed, Jedi survivor, Blackmyth outer worlds 2 Hellblade... Hzd, ghost of Tushima, Uncharted, cyberpunk, until dawn... Etc. These are brilliant experiences. Meanwhile. Asgaeds wrath, assassins creed, Arken age, batman.... With their low poly lowfi unconvincing worlds sit unfinished on my quest.

They hate you because you're right. I had a standalone quest 1 and spent more time on it watching movies and YT than actually playing games because only 1 or 2 games on it actually interested me. Connecting it to my gaming laptop instantly opened the world of VR so much more.

So you're assuming all Quest users don't PC Link? Haven't looked through all the slop that is VR games on steam? I was an early adopter of VR have the Original Oculus DK2 and since the beginning the best VR game to recommend is Beat Saber, Half-Life Alyx, and VRChat.

People are buying quest because, lets face it. its the only really affordable choice! We are getting poorer by the year and thanks to inflation and AI development hardware for gaming specifically is economically getting more and more out of reach for the working class.

My main problem is the barrier to entry. I do believe VE can be a whole new experience and a huge step in the gaming industry, but it won’t break out of its niche. All of the equipment you mentioned cost money and knowledge to set up. Compared that to a PC, most people choose PC.

High quality VR is the most expensive and most complex consumer-grade gaming medium. VR needs to be more accessible in order to grow. Right now the options are $400 easy to use meta quest vs $2000 Pc + $1000 headset minimum. It’s basically a ps2 being compared to modern PCs

PREACH GINGA PREACH

There hadn’t been a decent pcvr release for years, most games now have settled on either being a shooter, escape room or fitness game

Facts. I never understood why people who say they’re about the best gaming experiences shit on VR. The gaming journey from child to adult naturally led me to PCVR. Went from console to better console, better console to PC, to standalone/PCVR, to straight PCVR. This is why I think it’s the future of gaming. I think it’s the natural evolution. You can only go so high fidelity without needing presence to improve. Why would you NOT want to be in your favorite games, or even better than your favorite games? Makes zeeero sense to me.

Although I agree with this wholeheartedly, I feel like using footage of VR ports/mods doesn't really sell it very well. I understand that they're recognizable, but personally, I would have been more convinced by using footage of VR exclusives. I understand your point though.

That looks extremely expensive

ok so you either have to get a cheap setup with a metaquest and accept slop games. Or shell out thousands of dollars, not only for a PC capable of running VR in a good statem but also on extra haptic equipment. VR is trash exactly because of that.

Only slop here is your video Quest is literally a single thing keeping industry alive. You literally ruining VR with such statements. Instead of highlighting good experiences on quest you just gatekeeping VR from people.

It's a gimmick that costs £10,000+ to get a decent experience out of. It's not the Meta Quest holding it back.

Headset recommendation for PCVR?

You're literally paying for quality, I got an idex solely because I wanted a vr headset that I KNEW was good and also because I wanted to play Alyx

People aren’t keen on spending so much on such things.

Soon as i heard slop i turned it off

I love my VTOL-VR, Metro, Thief and the classics, but I do wanna Point out, the Quest has a bunch of Exclusives, that I wish were on Steam, so I could run it with better performance. Resident Evil 4 VR and AC Nexus are some of my fav VR experiences. Also AoT VR.

Also, I have two screaming kids and I love them so much. I hope they get to scream in your ears one day 🙏 PCVR- after five hours changing settings, crashes and glitches, can me and my mate get to race on the same track, in the same race? No, time for bed. A whole evening setup

“Spend tons of money and you’ll have fun”

You’re preaching the gospel
