This is how fake narratives are created by manipulating incidents: Propaganda: An auto driver in Nagpur molested two teenage girls and threatened to do the same sort of things with them which happened in #KolkataDoctorDeathCase Truth: The girls were talking loudly about a climate change seminar while sitting in the auto which annoyed the driver and he asked them to not speak so much and so loud in the auto sitting behind him. That led to a heated argument and the girls asked him to stop the auto. Then few SIMPS joined the argument and assaulted the Auto Driver. At Police Station the Police made the Auto Driver apologise to the girls and the matter got settled amicably. PS: No action was taken by the Nagpur City Police against the girl or these SIMPS who publicly assaulted, abused and humiliated the Auto Driver. After all he is a Man and in this country Law and Society is there just to protect a Woman.

Our people, it’s high time we had a serious conversation about how our society speaks to and treats the girl child. It’s high time we talked about what kind of culture and what kind of society we want to be. There is no greater sign of civilization than how a society treats its women. If our girls are not safe in our streets, not safe online, and not safe at home then we cannot claim to be a civilized society. Tomorrow, when someone starts to preach a contrary message to our women and girls, the only reason they may find an opportunity is because we as a society have first laid the foundation through our actions or inactions. Our girls should be proud and safe in our streets. We are better than this and it is our responsibility to set a better example for our young men and young women.
