Israel used to poll very favorably in the United States. Bipartisan support at the Senate and House level. Presidential candidates across both parties were consistently positive on Israel. That has shifted: 61% of Americans now disapprove of the Israeli government's conduct. I want to be clear: that's not antisemitic. Criticizing a government's behavior is not the same as antisemitism. I think Trump is responding to that polling. He doesn't like the perception that Netanyahu is calling the shots and pushing him around. And unfortunately a lot of Americans believe that's exactly what's happening.
