This Footage claimed to be from earlier tonight which shows the use of the “Iron Beam” Laser-Air Defense System in the Shoot Down of Rockets over Central Israel actually appears to just be either a Lens Flare from the Camera or a Reflection in the Clouds; also the “Iron Beam” is not meant to Intercept these kind of Projectiles and will primarily be used for Very Short-Range Interceptions from Mortar and Artillery Shells as well as some Drones.

The main problem is that the Shahed represents a new type of threat for which Israel's air defenses are not prepared. The system is planned to be installed on fighter aircraft or helicopters and will be able to intercept incoming missiles and drones outside Israel’s airspace. Compared with ground-based laser systems, it offers greater mobility and the ability to engage targets both above and below cloud cover. A lot getting through... $50 Billion emergency order put it with Raytheon. Israel's Channel 12 told you Iran was basically out of launchers more than a day ago! I guess the IRGC is lobbying these by hand. This is not going according to plan despite what anyone tells you. And we are only into the early days.

A simplified summary of my simulations of how drone detector antenna placement affects signal reception, expressed as a conditional drone detection range for different frequencies - obtained roughly by normalizing the square root of total gain to a typical drone detection range. Red line - detection distance for antenna on the roof, blue line - for antenna under the windshield. Considering that the main sector from which drones can approach the vehicle is elevation from 0 to 30 degrees, and also that in reality the glass will attenuate the signal more strongly than in my simulations - mounting the drone detector antennas inside the vehicle significantly reduces its practical drone detection range, especially in the rear hemisphere.
