Just three months ago, Israel's Supreme Court ruled that the government is not meeting its obligation of equal representation of women—since that ruling, five directors general have been appointed, all of whom are men. This reflects a bigger picture of a government that blatantly disregards court rulings and subverts the rule of law. Beyond that, it is out of step with the Israeli public. An IDI survey found that 71% of the public believe the number of women in senior public positions should be increased—this is a non-partisan issue, with a majority believing this across the political left, center and right.
