French President Macron: Hezbollah made the strategic mistake of attacking Israel and dragging Lebanon into the regional crisis. Israel’s strikes and the occupation of southern Lebanon cannot be a long-term solution. The ceasefire must fully include Lebanon — this is indispensable. We must strengthen support for the Lebanese Armed Forces so they can fully regain control of their territory.

In a video statement, Katz outlined the Israeli military plans to establish a new security zone in southern Lebanon, and says that “all homes in Lebanese villages near the border will be destroyed — in accordance with the Rafah and Beit Hanoun model in Gaza,” in order “to remove, once and for all, the threats near the border.” He added that the 600,000 residents of southern Lebanon who have been forced to flee would not be able to return “until the safety and security of northern Israeli residents is ensured”, and a Gaza-style ethnic cleansing model would be applied.
