Most “traditional hand drawn” anime make look like slide shows with time where you’re just looking at a still image.

Tbf… that’s exactly what animation is except you’re drawing each slide. It’s not a bad look, but it’d be hard to make a still image look cool when everything else has been moving

Yeah but other 2d animation have more fluid and subtle movements, any background character in an anime is just frozen, when a character is speaking only the mouth moves, any other 2d animation has way more movement

As much as I love studio orange...that remake could've been longer...that's just me...

AGREED I just think this aesthetic / push for cinematography should be standard for CG anime

Studio Orange make their 3d so good it makes me forget its indeed 3d sometimes only to remind about it in the most spectacular ways

Wow, this is great! I've seen Studio Orange get a lot of praise for stuff like their Land of the Lustrous adaptation, which don't get me wrong, is a lot better then other CG anime of it's time, but I was still eh on it, but this is amazing! It still feels just a bit choppy, I feel like it's all on twos or something and you can absolutely be much smoother using CGI quite easily, so it feels intentional much to my chagrin, but it's not as jarring as say Spiderverse or K-pop demon hunter's level of doing that Really wish these CGI production that otherwise have AMAZING animation and stylization would just use normal on-ones fully interpolated in betweens though, they already knock it out of the park in every other aspect!

I can understand that, but I feel like if it were on ones it would feel… Off? It’s like forcing a 24fps movie to be 60fps through a filter — it looks smooth but still *feels* weird to watch. To each their own, I suppose!

TRIGUN GRAAAAAH

I liked the look, but I didn't like how to story played out. In the months leading to the release, I got less and less hyped the more I read up on it. I still feel the sense of cringe when I read that the producer took to the Netflix Marvel shows for inspiration on pacing/story

Same I didn’t like that approach either, but setting up to be a prologue was a neat decision! Also considering Stargaze’s crew, I have some hope

Man I wanted to like the new Trigun but I couldn't get over what they did to the character designs I gotta just pretend it's its own thing based on nothing next time Sad too cause there's still no proper adaptation of the manga

Trigun is the single most impressive cgi anime iv'e ever seen to this date. Ridiculously fluid and impressive action shots. It seriously needs more love especially considering it's a remake of a classic.

Yeah only if the 3d cgi is like jumpy, bouncy makes full fun use of the 3d like it ate the gum gum fruit and has wicked camera angles which studio orange always does

The animation is stellar but they were really lacking on the character designs. I only really liked zazie’s new look over the original. Trigun has such cool character designs and aesthetics but they really underutilized them imo.

I do wish they leaned into how gritty Trigun really is and I can’t tell if it’s the limit of their program or a conscious choice. Hopefully we get more in Stargaze!

I think that if you're a real animation lover, you'll like 3D animation and praise it too. Animation can be made with a lot of things (people animate with sand, stop motion, 2D of course, etc) the hate for 3D is unfortunately coming from weird decisions in this industry
