Basement in the south, dehumidifier was broken and I forgot to turn ac on, 90% humidity will cause a lot of growth. There’s lots of stories of people turning ac off for a week in florida while on vacation and coming back to mold infested house. Weather just sucks here

...I lived in florida most of my life... nobody in florida has basements. You dig down, you hit WATER. Please make sure there's not mold hiding in your wall or carpet padding, really. That seems really hazardous

The acoustic panels are proper fire retardant treated ones so they are full of cancer chemicals. And I deep cleaned the carpet where the headsets were + I bought new dehumidifier (I told myself id fix the old one but its been 6 months) so no more humidity problems

Also the florida example is the actual houses lol, like drywall growing mold when people leave the AC off while on vacay

There's a chemical called RMR-141 that can kill most mold, I use it here in Texas where it gets humid. RMR-86 is the sister chemical that's basically a superbleach that disinfects and removes any mold stains. I recommend them. I soak my face gaskets in 141 before fully cleaning.

You can clean the headsets with bleach and replace the foam, but if its that bad on the headsets I can't imagine what your carpet and wall foam has in it

@mckartherack the arms are removable so if you're able to get a back strap the whole thing can be replaced, or the pads can be cleaned

@mckartherack I just DRENCHED it in isopropyl alcohol. That index is dead and I just use it as a dongle so its *probably* fine

Shows just how much bacteria these things hold holy moly. I hope replacing the gasket and giving them a good wipe down can save them 😭 I think there's anti-mold and mold killing sprays you can get off Amazon

This isnt that bad though? Just swap out the inserts, wipe it down and you're fine. Could be a lot worse, one time I had ants build a nest in my CV1 Rift and didn't notice until I put it on. Had to take the whole thing apart and blow it out with canned air.

i mean it only affected the pads since it had your skin and collected moisture, you can probably just hopefully (HOPEFULLY) clean it off around and replace the pads
