It's kinda hard to let nature be nature when the animals can talk. Like if I found out that pigs had the same hopes and dreams as me I would probably switch to turkey lunchmeat.

You can feed them eggs, insects, and fish. Hopefully assuming that none of those animals are as intelligent. Otherwise, this is a real nightmare we're forced to accept.

Eggs would not be able to sustain big carnivores like bears. Maybe Foxes and Snakes. Fish might be an option if they’re not sentient (even though that kind of defeats the point of anthro animals). And insects would run into the same issues as eggs

It makes me happy to see. If you save an injured animal from a predator it will probably just die more slowly, and the predator will starve. animals in media don’t have to be portrayed with an existential fear of death like humans do. (Even though this is fun to see aswell)
