Carl Jung has been dead for over sixty years, and yet that single sentence gets screenshotted, tattooed, and quoted more today than during his entire lifetime: "Until you make the unconscious conscious, it will direct your life and you will call it fate." There's a reason it refuses to die, because it describes a mechanism most people are running right now without knowing it. Start with what "the unconscious" actually meant to Jung, because the internet flattened it into a self-help slogan and lost the terror of the original idea. Jung wasn't talking about forgotten memories or bad habits. He was describing an entire hidden operating system running underneath your awareness — built from childhood wounds, inherited family patterns, cultural programming, and what he called the shadow, the parts of yourself you disowned so early you don't even remember rejecting them. This system has preferences. It has an agenda. It makes decisions. And it does all of this in a language you were never taught to read. You experience the output of that system as your own free choices. The person you're inexplicably drawn to. The opportunity you self-sabotaged right before it worked. The same fight in every relationship with a different face across the table. The career you fell into and can't explain why. You narrate all of it afterward as personality, as preference, as luck, as timing, as fate. You author a story where you're the conscious decision-maker at the center. Jung's claim is that you're often not the author. You're the narrator explaining decisions that were already made somewhere you can't see. This is where his idea collides directly with the Matrix, and the comparison is more precise than people realize. The Matrix isn't a metaphor for the world being fake. It's a metaphor for a control system so seamless that the controlled experience it as ordinary life. Nobody in the Matrix feels trapped. They feel normal. They feel free. The prison works because it's invisible. That is an almost perfect description of what Jung meant by the unconscious directing your life while you call it fate. The programming doesn't feel like programming from the inside. It feels like you. The reason so few people ever escape it comes down to a brutal design flaw in human awareness. To question your conditioning, you'd have to use the very mind that was shaped by that conditioning. The lens can't easily see its own distortion. Your defense mechanisms were specifically built to keep certain truths out of consciousness, which means the parts of you most in need of examination are the exact parts your psyche is engineered to hide. You're guarded against yourself by yourself. That's why insight alone rarely changes anyone. People read this quote, feel a jolt of recognition, screenshot it, and then continue living the identical pattern the following Tuesday. Awareness that stays intellectual changes nothing. Jung was pointing at something far more demanding than understanding. He was describing a confrontation. Making the unconscious conscious is not a mindset shift. It's an excavation. It means sitting with the emotions you spent decades avoiding. It means noticing the pattern while you're inside it instead of explaining it away afterward. It means owning the version of yourself you've been performing against your entire life. It's uncomfortable, slow, occasionally humiliating work, which is precisely why the culture prefers to frame it as a nice quote instead of a life sentence you're currently serving. And notice what he chose as the final word. Not "destiny." Not "path." Fate. Fate is the word humans reach for when something feels inevitable and external, when it feels handed down rather than chosen. Jung's genius was recognizing that the feeling of inevitability is itself a symptom. When your life feels like it's happening to you, when the same situations keep arriving like weather you didn't order, that sense of powerlessness is often the fingerprint of the unconscious running the show. The more automatic your life feels, the more of it is being directed from underneath. There's a strange freedom buried in this that most people miss because the idea sounds so heavy. If your patterns were unconsciously installed, then they were installed. Which means they can, with enormous effort, be examined and rewritten. The alternative belief, that this is simply who you are and always will be, is far more of a prison than anything Jung described. He wasn't condemning you to fate. He was showing you the one door out of it, and the door only opens inward. Sixty years dead, and the man is still describing the average scroll through your own life with more accuracy than the program that served you this post. The unconscious runs the program. Consciousness is the only thing that was ever able to read the code.

Max very eloquently describes the ambiguous intangibles that come from learning a fighting game you care about. These hit even closer to home on fighting games you end up liking more than expected. Imagine, if you will, the 1st time you booted up your favorite fighting game ; ------------------------------ The publisher and dev logos show up, maybe a dope trailer to intro the first time you turn the game on, then the title screen with a "PRESS ANY BUTTON TO START" or something like that. You find your way to a story mode or arcade mode and are filled with excitement on where this journey will take you. No matter what path you take you know that you signed up for an experience where you get to control and basically BECOME a character that kicks ass. Maybe after a while you decide to jump into training mode and start labbing, "I should really figure out a combo or two" because you don't want to mash forever. And then finally, you jump online. After grinding games for what felt like just a few minutes, you realize hours have passed, you're addicted. The grind only goes on harder and maybe you even find out about locals or tournaments in your area. Perhaps you even discover MAJORS - basically tournaments so large in scale that people from all over the world attend. Your competitive drive is at an all time high and then, suddenly, you hit it. The Wall - coined by Brian_F Now every game you lose, every local player that edges the win over you, ever single mistake just feels so heavy... It's because you are stuck. You are not growing. You are stagnating. And it sucks. It really sucks. I coach a lot of students and it's one of the hardest things to explain to someone "You're doing everything right, you just have to do it a - a bit quicker - a bit more confidently - with intent These are the intangibles, the hardest things to teach but the things that become so critical at the highest level, where inches become miles in terms of player skill. It gets so frustrating too because by this point, it's so tough to have fun when you just keep losing. You can't go back to day 1, at least not physically. Knowledge is a burden – once taken up, it can never be discarded - Stephen Lawhead Awareness is step one though and although it can feel incredibly suffocating, once you push through your plateau in fighting games you truly unlock a part of yourself that feels untouchably satisfied with all levels of play.

jihoon’s sleep paralysis is so bad that he went in and out of it more than 10 times during his massage today :( he couldnt even sleep and get some rest even if he had the time to :( i feel so bad :( 🐶 right after I got back to Korea, I went to get a massage. while I was getting the massage, I ended up getting sleep paralysis. 🐶 u know how it is, right? when you get sleep paralysis, you wake up - fall asleep - get sleep paralysis - wake up - fall asleep - boom sleep paralysis. over and over. u know you’re trapped in that cycle, but you can’t escape it because you’re so tired that you keep falling back asleep 🐶 im like “ah im probably gonna get sleep paralysis again” but at the same time you think, “maybe this round will be different” 🐶 but no, I got sleep paralysis so many times. I seriously got stuck in an endless loop. I was trying so hard to snap out of it, like moving around and struggling, and then when I finally woke up, the massage therapist was like 👩🏻 oh? are you okay? is this position uncomfortable for you? 🐶 so I pretended it was that and went “ah yeah im okimokimok” 🐶 then I fell asleep again, and it happened again. I’d move around, wake up, and they’d ask me if im okay. i say yes. this happened like three or four times. 🐶 then later they put something warm on me. but when they did, I suddenly got kind of scared because I was already in that weird state, so I asked, “how long does this stay on for?” and they said about 7 minutes. by then I’d already had sleep paralysis like four times in a row. every time it happened, i’d wake up - sleep paralysis - wake up - sleep paralysis just over and over. 🐶 anyway, after it was all done 👩🏻 does your body feel okay now? 🐶 oh yeah yeah my body feels great. yes yes I think I feel really good 🐶 my manager said he could give me a ride, but since the other hyungs had just gotten back to Korea too, I was like, “no everyone go home and rest. its Sunday anyway, I’ll go by myself.” 🐶 so I was dragging myself home thinking, “should I just lie down and sleep right here on the street?” but it was so hot today, and the back of my neck was burning from the heat. I pulled myself together and got home. 🐶 honestly, I was planning to sleep. I thought I’d sleep for like three hours after getting home, but I just couldn’t fall asleep. And seriously, this is torture. the suffering of insomnia is real. people who can actually sleep when they want to sleep are seriously amazing. 🐶 I really tried today. I turned on the styler, lay there with my eyes closed for like forty minutes, but in the end I couldn’t sleep. so I was like, “okay if it’s gonna be like this, i’ll just start a livestream! okay”

【📢TikTok live: อันโดรเมด้า ชุน 】 #จุงอาเชน #JoongArchen i hate incomplete translations… half a cake is still a cake but half a story is no longer a real story … Joong is not putting down or comparing any country with any other country… he is expressing his regret that the time he had to visit Baizil was so short 🐶 first stop: Brazil — our first time there. we did our homework — studied what Brazil had to offer and what places were worth visiting. tiktok showed how beautiful the cities were so we still went. we’d heard stories about people carrying guns on the streets. the local team even advised us: “don’t go out at night. stick to daytime.” me? i wasn’t too scared. i felt ready to “fight a tiger.” i was like “i got this!” so i walked around our hotel in the evening — and honestly it felt fine. people were out and about and it felt safe enough. then came show night. in Brazil we usually perform first then explore. the concert was incredibly fun — because it was our Brazilian fans’ first time seeing us in person! they created a real community vibe — setting up speakers and singing in the hall before the concert even began. they brought their own sound system blasting music and gathering together. even injured fans were singing Thai songs — clearly and passionately! not only was it fun but the sound system was insane — like ten or more speakers surrounding us. we barely needed in-ear monitors because the audio was that good. you could feel the intensity of the music vibrating through everyone — it was absolutely exhilarating. singing together feeling the crowd — i was totally euphoric. a highlight for me was this vintage market area near the venue. there were beer stalls alcohol being sold — but just to be clear i don’t drink alcohol. it was a cool vintage spot with artists sketching on the street for passersby. there were also these dolls — i honestly don’t know what kind — maybe hand-carved wooden ones. the clothes were super colorful too. but i didn’t have any money on me so i didn’t feel anything emotionally — just… nothing. i just took pictures to capture it all as a memory. honestly this was probably the trip where i spent the least amount of money in my life. still i posted travel pics and everything looked totally normal — super cute really lovely. 🐶 and then came the 2nd country: Mexico. it was honestly amazing — truly next level/at first when we arrived it reminded me a bit of Brazil. in Brazil you see graffiti everywhere — like people are just ready to paint every wall. so right after landing in Mexico and driving to the hotel i thought: “whoa this feels just like Brazil!” as we drove along i saw murals painted walls — kind of sweet and artistic. i wondered: is Mexico really that similar to Brazil? but the deeper we went into the city the vibe started to change. it was like driving through bangkapi in thailand — bustling crowded street markets a bit of traffic. then as we continued it started to feel like thonglor — more urban taller buildings. that’s when i realized: “oh we haven’t hit downtown yet.” but once we reached downtown — omg it was a whole different world. it looked so European! the buildings and architecture were absolutely gorgeous. if i were to describe it in fan-language it was so grand. you could throw on a suit and take aesthetic pics literally anywhere. in Brazil we barely had one day for sightseeing — just one day. but in Mexico we had three full days: one right after arrival. one the next day. and one on the day of the show. so we got to explore a lot more. you might have noticed i posted way more pictures in Mexico — that’s because we stayed longer. and since we were based in the city we could go out at night take pictures walk around. the city had such a strong European vibe. the churches were gorgeous too. we had the chance to explore multiple spots because we had time. honestly if we had as much time in Brazil we probably could’ve toured the whole city….+

China feels like the future… until you check what the future is built on. My friend just got back from China. On the surface, it’s insanely optimized. What he was describing is the UI. I’m talking about the OS, and the part most people miss: the hidden bill. The Great Firewall is more of a speed bump. VPNs and e-SIMs get around it fast. Immigration is basically a face-scan checkout lane. Delivery is frictionless. Transport is smooth. Shenzhen has 18M+ people and somehow doesn’t feel dense. Even the chaos is efficient: apps are packed because they maximize options, not aesthetics. Speed is the religion. But don’t confuse a slick UI with a healthy operating system. Everyone doomscrolls. Gen Z on Douyin and Xiaohongshu, boomers on WeChat. That’s not just “modern life”. It’s what a society does when attention becomes anesthesia. Hong Kong also hits different. Locals aren’t being dramatic when they say it’s past its prime. The vibe is not “global city”, it’s “post-peak”. Now the part most people miss: the hidden bill. Food, air, water. The sacrifices you don’t see in the app. Pollution doesn’t show up as a line item, but it is still a cost. Convenience is real, but it’s often subsidized by invisible inputs and deferred consequences. And the “tech miracle”? Follow the balance sheet. A lot of it is state money and state credit directed into champions. That has a price: SMEs get crowded out. Trust stays thin, so B2B stays hard. If companies don’t trust each other and labor is cheap, you don’t buy enterprise software, you build it in-house. That’s not a culture quirk. That’s incentives. Same story with VC. People say China is weak at 0 to 1 but strong at 1 to 100. True, but the reason is not talent. The downside is political. When downside is political, capital becomes risk-averse, copying becomes rational, and most markets drift winner-takes-all. Scale becomes the safest trade. Then there’s the “innovation parks” and cheap land. Everyone loves the aesthetic: futuristic campuses, low-cost industrial space, “supportive policy.” Look closer. Cheap land is not a gift. It’s collateral. It helped feed the real estate leverage machine. That unwind is the real macro story, not the headlines. Finally, surveillance. Don’t call it tech progress. It’s governance tech. Cameras everywhere are not about safe or convenience. They’re about control under one-party rule, especially when trust is low and fear is high. When institutions are expensive, monitoring is cheaper. So yeah, China’s UI is fast. But the OS is fear + leverage + state capital, with a hidden environmental tax. If you want the real takeaway: Stop arguing about features. Price the system. Because the alpha is always in the gap between what looks modern and what is actually sustainable.

If someone tells you Mercedes "Level 3" DrivePilot is more advanced than Tesla FSD, they are either clueless or lying to you. Mercedes DrivePilot: 1. Only works on certain models of the top end S class and EQS with special hardware. So only some versions of their most expensive car support it, or almost no cars. By contrast any Tesla built since October 2016 can run FSD. 2. Only works on pre-mapped highways in California or Nevada. By contrast Tesla FSD works on any road, highway or city streets across North America (and soon, Europe and China) 3. You must be in a traffic jam on the highway traveling under 40 miles per hour. By contrast FSD allows you to go up to 85 miles per hour. 4. You must have a vehicle right in front of you to follow, if they pull too far ahead you will be asked to take over. By contrast FSD does not require a lead vehicle. 5. You must have clear lane markings — if they are faded you will be asked to take over. By contrast FSD works without any lane markings. 6. Only works in good weather — if it's rainy, foggy, sun shining directly at car, etc you will be asked to take over. By contrast FSD works in a wide range of inclement weather conditions (but of course has limits too) 7. Only works in the daytime. Does not turn on at night. By contrast FSD works 24 hours a day. 8. You have to click ok to accept the first time you turn it on per drive. By contrast FSD just turns on without requiring you to click ok 9. DrivePilot still has a driver monitoring system that will beep at you / ask you to take over if you do anything that is not allowed (like leaning too far back) 10. You may be asked to take over at any moment for any reason and need to be ready to do so within 10 seconds. 11. If you don't take control, the vehicle will come to a dead stop in the middle of the highway 12. DrivePilot cannot handle interchanges or change lanes. By contrast FSD can handle lane changes and interchanges completely automatically. Mercedes can do lane changes in Level 2 mode, but in Level 3 mode you need to do them yourself. You will always need to pay attention to make sure you don't miss the exit 13. "Don't think of it as a fully automated do everything for you sytem. It's more like Level 2 enhanced, but enhanced in a really impressive way" 14. Relies on HD mapping to function. Mercedes needs to build and maintain these maps or the system will not work. The system does not work anywhere the maps don't go, such as city streets. 15. System is so reliant on maps to tell the car where to drive that they have to account for things like continental drift 16. When the system asks you to take over, you're sent back into manual driving mode — all lane keeping is turned off 17. Once it goes out of its operating conditions, you are liable again. So, for example, if someone changes lanes and there's no longer a lead car in front of you the system suddenly turns off, stops in the middle of the highway, and you're liable again "so it's always good to pay attention, even when these systems are on" (so what is the benefit exactly?) 18. Because mapping is so expensive to maintain, it costs $2,500 a year. By contrast FSD costs only $1,200 a year. It does so much more for less than half the price, and works on any Tesla. 19. No way to retrofit DrivePilot onto a car that doesn't have the LIDAR etc 20. "I came away from my time with DrivePilot a bit mystified. It's clear that developing this system was a complicated endeavor, with all the added sensors and complexity and while it was on I have to say it worked pretty flawlessly. But with the operating conditions being so narrow, I couldn't shake the thought of 'is this all worth it?' from my head. Even trying to film this video was difficult, as the vehicle would hand control back just as we were getting going especially with that low 40 mph speed threshold. And if I were paying $2,500 a year to use this system and it wouldn't stay on, I would find that pretty frustrating" It is crazy and sad that people are being so misinformed about important safety technologies that could save or change their lives. If anyone tells you this system is more advanced than anything else out there, they are either a moron or a liar.

DRUGGED. STRIPPED and she says RAPED in a police cell. By the very officers meant to protect her. The doctors found her symptoms matched a date-rape drug. She was locked in that cell. So who gave it to her. The CCTV that could prove it? Four and a half hours, VANISHED. In the hands of the force she's accusing. Three and a half years on. Not one officer charged. No justice and it all happened in Andy Burnham's Manchester. His police. His watch. The man who says he should be your next PRIME MINISTER. Can't fix one cell in his own city. Wants to run the whole country. This is Zayna Iman and this is hard to watch. First, what she took, and what she didn't, because someone always tries that first. That evening she'd taken cocaine. A friend rang 999, worried. The police came to her home. That's all she did. At the door she knocked the glasses off a female officer's face, was arrested for it, and taken to a cell. Here's what matters. Cocaine doesn't do what happened to her next. The doctors were clear. Her symptoms matched a date-rape drug. GHB, or something like it. A completely different substance. She didn't walk in with that in her. She was behind a locked cell door. She couldn't have taken it herself. Someone inside that station gave it to her. Then the police said she'd had a psychotic episode. Except her medical records show no history of mental illness. The doctors said her belief she'd been drugged and raped was NOT delusional. It fit exactly what she described. A former Greater Manchester Police chief superintendent has said, out loud, that he believes her. She isn't the only one. Since she spoke, more than a dozen other women have come forward about this same force. Then there's the footage. On camera, you see her carried in and strip-searched. Then, for the hours that matter most, the screen goes black. The story kept changing. It existed. It was corrupted. It can't be recovered. She says four and a half hours are gone. They admit two. Either way, the proof vanished in the hands of the accused. And Burnham? She contacted him in 2021, two months after she got out. Silence, she says, until 2023, when she waived her anonymity and public outcry forced his hand. Only then did he move. An inquiry into how police treat women in custody. Except the woman at the centre of it says nobody from that inquiry properly spoke to her. Stonewalled. Gaslit. Her words. Nobody's been charged. The investigation still crawls on. Say that plainly. But strip it back. A woman took cocaine and needed help. She ended up drugged with something else entirely, in a cell, in the care of the state and the cameras went dark exactly when it mattered. If it can happen to her, and the proof can just disappear, it can happen to anyone the police put in a cell. Your daughter. Your sister. You. Three and a half years. Still no answers. And the man who moved only when the country was watching wants the keys to the whole country. Ask yourself what he does when nobody's filming.

My fellow Chicagoans, our city is at the precipice We have been suffering through insidious crime for decades but over the past 8 years under our current Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx’s reign, we have fallen off a cliff There is no more time, no more mulligans, no more excuses: “We need to right the ship and we need to right the ship quickly.” Eileen O’Neill Burke It is WELL past time to get the adults back in the room and I’m here to tell you that the first adult we need is, without question, Eileen to replace Foxx, period I’m an outspoken proponent of Eileen, and although there are many reasons, this less than 2 minute video I took does an incredibly good job of explaining why, and directly from her own mouth, so please watch it My favorite part is when Eileen says: “And, he’s a nice man…I’m a terrible politician, but he’s a nice man.” I love this because I’m D-O-N-E with career politicians and NO politician would EVER call their opponent a “nice man” and mean it Eileen isn’t a career politician, she’s a concerned, life-long Chicagoan who deeply loves our city and knows that it’s time to stand up and do something about it The big difference between Eileen and any of us, including her opponent, is her EXTENSIVE experience in the criminal justice system as a State’s Attorney, criminal defense attorney, trial court judge, and for the past 7 years, an appellate court judge for Illinois 😳 HUGE thanks to my good friends Claude Cimeus 🇭🇹 Landon & Jeff Shapack for hosting this event at Shapack Partners’s gorgeous 167 N Green building in Fulton Market on 2/24 If you’d like to hear from Eileen yourself and provide your support for her campaign, then please DM me for details about the fundraiser my colleagues Jenny Guzmán Ira Weiss Stuart Loren & I are hosting for her this Friday 3/1 WE ARE OUT OF TIME!!! If we don’t act now, our city will fail, I promise you, so please join me, my colleagues and the rest of our fellow concerned Chicagoans in supporting Eileen for our next Cook County State’s Attorney ❤️🙏👊

Last year, we casually told our American friends, who have lived in Berlin for years, “We’re going to the celebration at the gate on New Year’s Eve!” They both stared at us, horrified. One of them said, “Celia, it’s truly post-apocalyptic. It’s like the Fourth of July, but a hundred times worse. You have no idea.” I looked at her, somewhat incredulously. “We’ve survived New York City on the Fourth of July. That was chaos. How bad can it be?” Oh, I was *so* wrong. To play it safe, we left the kids with my mom, who was visiting from South Carolina. My husband and I went alone. We arrived six hours early because I was determined to be as close as possible to the stage for Riverdance (and no, I’m not joking about this 🤣). Fireworks started soon after the performances ended… but not over the gate, as you’d expect. No, they were behind us. We had to turn around to even see them. As we left, I thought, “That wasn’t so bad!”—until we realized the roads were blocked and the police were essentially herding the crowd to another part of the city. “No big deal,” I said, “We’ll just walk to the nearest S-Bahn or U-Bahn station.” And that’s when the *real* chaos started. We walked, and suddenly it felt like we’d entered a very different reality. Fireworks went off in every direction. People were running through the streets, carrying fireworks in their hands and setting them off in the streets. Smoke filled the air, and the sound of popping fireworks was deafening (and constant). Every S-Bahn and U-Bahn station we passed was closed. So we just kept walking. And walking. We finally made it to Alexanderplatz, only to discover that many of the trains were disrupted or had intermittent service. Eventually, we made it to an U-Bahn station that would take us home. By then, we were starving. We found a döner stand that was still open and packed with people. I asked the guy behind the counter, “So, have you worked on New Year’s Eve before?” He smiled and said, “Of course. That’s why I stay open this late. Berlin stays awake all night to celebrate, and people are going to want lots of döner.” Wise man. *And* maybe the best fries I’ve had in Berlin. Or, you know, maybe I was just starving. We finally made it home well after 2 AM. My kids and mom were still awake. My mom, wide-eyed, asked, “WHAT is happening out there?!” And my kids were still pressed to the windows, hoping for more fireworks—two hours after midnight. Our legs were aching from hours off standing and walking, and I have a video of my mom hysterically laughing (which she would never let me share on social media) as we told her about our night and asked, “How many ibuprofen do you think we’ll need tomorrow?” In the end, we learned that New Year’s Eve in Berlin isn’t just a celebration—it’s a wild, exhausting adventure, where chaos, excitement, and a few too many fireworks make for a night you’ll never forget.

Most people’s summer escape across Europe itineraries are almost universally hijacked by the same handful of over-commercialized mega-cities. They queue for hours outside the Colosseum in Rome, brace themselves for the shoulder-to-shoulder scrums of Prague’s Charles Bridge, or accept inflated prices as a mandatory tax along the canals of Venice. While those grand monuments are essential cultural milestones, the true, creative heartbeat of contemporary European life unfolds when you break away from the commercial algorithms. If you want safety, culture, and amazing value, save this ultimate bucket list: 🇵🇱 1. Warsaw, Poland (The Complete Package) Hands down my number one! Warsaw is beautiful, safe, clean, affordable, modern, and incredibly livable. No other city in Europe combines quality of life and value for money better. 🇸🇮 2. Piran, Slovenia (The Slow Travel Dream) Probably the best place on Earth to slow down. Wake up right by the Adriatic Sea, grab a coffee, wander through the historic old town, eat fresh seafood, and completely forget what day it is. 🇭🇺 3. Budapest, Hungary (The Perfect Weekend) If someone asks me for the perfect European weekend trip, I always say Budapest! Stunning architecture, relaxing thermal baths, great food, and amazing value for money. 🇧🇦 4. Sarajevo, Bosnia & Herzegovina (The History Masterclass) You will learn more about European history here than anywhere else. The breathtaking mix of cultures, religions, and recent history makes it one of the most fascinating places on the continent. 🇲🇩 5. Chișinău, Moldova (The Big Surprise) One of Europe's least-visited capitals and a total hidden gem. Expect massive green parks, wide boulevards, an incredible local wine culture, and a unique charm most tourists never experience. 🇱🇻 6. Riga, Latvia (The Underrated Capital) Still so slept on! Riga offers stunning Art Nouveau architecture, an amazing quality of life, and pristine nature sitting right on its doorstep. 🇷🇴 7. Bucharest, Romania (The Grower) It might not be love at first sight, but give it time. The nightlife here is completely unmatched, the streets have raw character, and the more time you spend here, the more it grows on you! 🇨🇿 8. Brno, Czech Republic (The Authentic Vibe) Prague is incredible, but Brno feels way more authentic and livable. It has amazing café culture, high student energy, and a city that doesn't feel like it’s performing for tourists. 🇭🇷 9. Zadar, Croatia (The Crowd Escaper) All the beauty of Croatia's stunning coast without the crushing crowds. Expect mind-blowing sunsets, crystal-clear water, and a much slower, peaceful pace than Split or Dubrovnik. 🇩🇪 10. Nuremberg, Germany (The Bavarian Classic) A gorgeous city packed with a medieval old town, legendary beer gardens, and a super relaxed atmosphere. Bavaria is easily my favorite region in Germany! 🎥 lukepatrickh | IG

Since I’m already here in the Outro: Tear hole and have been for about 12 hours now. I may as well use this opportunity to point out one of the very distinct reasons Outro: Tear evokes such visceral reactions from all us who hear it. The meaning behind it is defintely one of the reasons. But another is the structure of the song itself. Outro: Tear is not one song with 3 verses saying the same thing. It’s 3 different reactions changing hands as the song moves from Namjoon to Yoongi to Hoseok. And along with the lyrics, the melody is doing the same thing. It’s weaving from Namjoon’s conflict to Yoongi’s despair to Hoseok’s fear. It’s 3 different reactions in response to the same inevitable end. Namjoon’s reaction being internal interrogation of his self. His relationship with identity has always been threaded through questions of sincerity. Kim Namjoon vs RM. Leader vs person. The person carrying everybody versus the person who is also exhausted and frightened and occasionally has absolutely no idea what he’s doing. It’s inward conflict. Was it real? Was the goodbye always inevitable because of his own insincerity him? Then yoongi comes in with his verse that says, fine. Destroy it. His reaction is pure rage. And it’s not rage at the people who are important to him. No. It’s rage at the fact it has come to this. So he wants it all scorched. Bc if all of it has to go, then he wants it gone completely. No lingering. No halves. No hope. And then Hoseok’s verse. His whole verse is grappling with fear through his words. But it’s also fear as a physiological language. It’s one of the truly unique things about his verse. How the melody literally starts with hard breaths. You can hear it in the song. Gasping. Forcing. Almost choking. And then his flow breaks out of its contained rhythm. He’s panicking. He’s fearful bc “ending” was always just a concept. But now it’s here in present time. He spends the final verse driving his body and the song towards a state that feels increasingly unsustainable. The breaths are shorter, his delivery gets more frantic, rhythm breaking out of confinement, and then his repetitions like geol geol geol and byeong byeong byeong lose structure within the song and becomes a fixation almost. So now you as the listener who has been experiencing that transition from conflict to rage and despair and now to fear and panic, you are naturally expecting a sort of resolve. But it doesn’t happen. What does happen is the song quite literally cuts. The composition of the flow itself finally does what it’s meant to do. It ends without allowing for a resolve. That part. That abrupt end. That is why Outro: Tear has that reaction on us all. Because the very last thing you experience with the song is an interruption. All of that confusion and pain and rage and fear carries with you into Hoseok’s verse where as the panic crescendos, you expect him to arrive emotionally somewhere. But he doesn’t. He is still inside the panic when the song takes him away from you. So now you’re the one left holding all of that with you. That’s what’s almost cruel about the song itself. There’s no completion. Hoseok’s verse just escalates and escalates and then cuts. That’s it. You don’t get closure. You don’t get the emotional luxury of watching the pain taper away. The songs just rips from you.
