Here is a tip go to the hardware store get a roll of plastic used for painting tape underneath hole layout on your floor get a rigid trashcan underneath instead of a paper bag after you get all the large parts out you just rolled the plastic up and you don’t have to worry about that shit getting all over the floor you walk on

It is the clean out for a fire place or stove. You can see a thimble at the top coming out at an angle. Get a shop vac with a bag in it and suck the ash out. If you have an 8" chimney broom, run it up while the hose from the shop vac is on.
